| Constipation? Help! I hope someone is up right now that can help me out here (it's like 3 AM my time). I just finished feeding Lil Maddie. I'm concerned because she hasn't gone poo within 24 hours. The last time she went, she went A LOT. Everything was a mess in there including herself. She doesn't seem uncomfortable and her belly isn't bloated any more than usual (just the normal after feeding). She has been going potty on her own, but I've still been cleaning her up with a cotton pad each time before she eats and each time she will still go pee pee a little. Even though she supposedly goes poo on her own, I've still tried to stimulate her to go before feedings. Anyone have any suggestions? I would imagine she must have to go poo by this point! I'm getting really worried. Is there something I could have done wrong to make her constipated? What do I do if she is? I would call my breeder friend, Mary, but it's so late/early. If I don't hear anything from anyone soon, I may just have to call anyway.

| Sorry, sweetie! Hope someone answers you soon. I think she will be OK for a few more hours until Mary is relatively awake to answer your question. Hang in there!!

| ohhh, poor lil maddie. stimulate her right after feedings. and if she doesn't go poo soon, call the vet. i wouldn't take any chances because she is really young and she is tooooo precious! she may be having digestion (constipation) problems due to being on formula. |

| Okay, I spoke to Mary this morning and she told me not to worry unless she seems like she's straining or uncomfortable. She said that if I'm worried about her staying regular, give her a little Nutrical. It has oils in it that will help to keep her regular and the vitamins wouldn't hurt her. I am still keeping a close eye on her, but I feel a little better now.

| Hi- I just searched "constipated" because I wanted to check out similar problems. Parker has had more soft poops with some mucus. I took a sample to be tested, but no results yet. Meantime, vet said switch to boiled hamburger and rice. We did that, and now he hasn't gone since noon yesterday. He is acting okay, so I guess I'll wait it out a little. I did feel better reading the suggestions, as usual. |

I remember when Maddie was that age, I had the exact same problem with her. The vet tested it and found no parasites or anything. He gave me some kind of medicine for her digestion and it cleared up (I wish I could have remember what it was). He said that she may have some sort of irritation from something she was eating. At the time, she was eating "Greenies" which I have since found are bad for them. Are you giving him any kind of treat that you feel could be a cause for concern? I would suggest what Mary, the breeder helping me and educating me with my "new mommy" issues (as we call it), has told me to do. She suggested giving a little nutrical, which contains cod liver oil, which should help with keeping him regular. Has Parker pooed yet?

| Thanks for the info. Parker did poo once or twice. I think it must have been the fact that I changed his food. The vet said try to stick w/dry, and the Eukanuba was giving him runny stools, so I got Royal Canin. I don't think I did it gradual enough, so now we have given the rice and meat w/some dry until he gets regular again. |
