2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | ![]() Wow... she was a busy girl. Anyone of those ties could have been just shy of her ovulation time or window of oppertunity. Which is between day 10-15 of her heat cycle. Typically some time within that time period is when the eggs will be fertilized. In my oppinion and seeing your dates of the ties, she still has time. There was an entire week of ties taking place and if you are not sure of the date when she came into heat than you wont have an exact due date, only a time frame and those babies were still not fully developed on the 16th. As long as there are no contractions and aparent destress than keep taking her temp and watching her behavior, That is your best tool in knowing when its time.

| ![]() PLEASE get this lady xrayed and find out exactly what you are dealing with!!!!!!!!!! Believe it or not, this information is ESSENTIAL especially if you have a pup transverse across the birth canal, or if those babies have grown too big for her to even pass. Rather than wait until the middle of the night, when it becomes a matter of life and death, and you are rushing to an ER to deliver a litter of babies, which may be still born because they have been unable to be born, or even worse, loose your female during or after surgery, get an xray so you know what is going on and you are not trying to listen to fetal heart tones.....do you have any experience listening to fetal heart tones??....do you know what you are even listening to????....Please do not put this momma at risk for even another minute, pitzing around trying to guess at what you are listening to! Fine for experienced breeders to utilize these tools, hopefully they KNOW and RECOGNIZE what they are listening to.......take her in and get the abd. xray.....I have been doing this for 13 years and I ALWAYS get at least ONE xray on day 58 and maybe even an ultra sound before that if I was concerned about something....these are expenses you have to assume responsibility for if you choose to breed....you HAVE to know what is going on in there and not be guessing!!!! I am sorry, I am not trying to be mean or insensitive, but my concern is ALWAYS for the momma and the babies!!!! GO GET HER XRAYED NOW!! Quit pitzing around, "maybe she is, maybe she isnt, maybe I hear heartbeats...they dont sound like the video, maybe it is mesenteric artery you hear,..."".....find out for sure!!!! I am sorry but this is soooooo frustrating and sooooooooooooo unnecessary! |

| ![]() My vet can't see her until tomorrow but I trying to get in somewhere else. The other vet I spoke to was at "Banfield" and he was not at all concerned but they were open yesterday. He recommended that I stick to the vet that she is already seeing. I don't want to wait but I can't force my vet to see me. I have called several times today hoping they can fit me in but they are trying to get caught up from being closed. I am still checking temps in the mean time and it is staying right around 99. My vet did say if her temp gets over 102 or if she discharges something green or smelly to take her immediately to the ER. Which I already knew. I am trying a vet about 2 hours from here but still waiting on a call back. I am trying very hard to stay calm and do what is best for my baby girl and her babies. How ever I think that it is possible that I jumped the gun on her delivery date as it is possible that she did not conceive until her last tie. You are correct in that I do not have ANY experience in doppler reading I was just reaching for anything until I can get a vet to exray her. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() Shandie, stay calm, if she is not running a fever, discharging anything or uncomfortable in any way, just get her to your vet as soon as you can, that is all, if she was in distress, crying pushing without producing anything then I will urge you to run to the emergency vet, but if she is not in any of the above, let her rest and get her to your vet as soon as they can see you.. hugs, |

| ![]() She isnt in any distress as we speak.....but that usuallly has a way of happening around midnight, when everyone is closed, but the ER vet, who is going to be probably 3x's the expense. But then I do not like to wait until there is an emergency in order to get active....I like "controlled crashes"....I like to know what I have, what I am dealing with, and what my options are.....no guessing, no fooling around, wondering, puzzled, waiting for the next shoe to fall, no surprises....guess that is 35+ years of cardiovascular intensive care nursing....Not only do I not like loosing my patients, I like preventing them from even getting that close....you have to move too fast when it gets that far. | ![]() Good advice from Yorkiemom1. ![]() I would like to add that there is absolutely no need for 5 ties. One is usually sufficient, but most go with 2 ties with 1 day in between. If she is receptive, she is ovulating. Besides, sperm can remain viable for several days after breeding. A real danger in so many ties...and having ties over a full week, is that you could wind up with pups at different stages of development, with some being premature. This can happen if an egg is fertilized on the first tie and then on one of the late ties. You could have pups a full week more developed than others. The less developed ones would be the human equivalent of a month premature.
