Thanks for asking... Puppies are doing Awesome. vet says they are gaining great weight and was very happy to see the mixure diet that I have her on.

anyways, I am truly sorry i posted here. Be protective is great... being like this is simply shameful. Had i NOT been concerned had I NOT been worried had I NOT given a Sh*t I would not already have a HUGE vet bill, have the vets home number, spent more time at the vets in the last 2 months than most do in 3 years.... but nothing I say is going to make any of you understand nor change your thoughts... it is what it is... we had unplanned pupps, and did the BEST we could with the Situation.

wow! Her puppies must be pretty large then. By the picture you posted, if she were 5 lbs, the pups (assuming they are 4 to 6 oz's), would look a lot smaller against her tummy

This is what you said back in May:

It sounds like having bred Mastiffs, you would know to keep un-neutered males away from female in heat if not ready to be bred. All that humping? A breeder knows right?

Please don't call everyone here shameful, and try to turn this around on us. Every one here truly CARES about these precious little beings and reacts because of that love.
The fact remains a very tiny girl was bred and was PLANNED to be bred. Good luck with her, please spay her when she has finished raising these puppies, if she finishes raising them. She deserves to live a life free from pain and pressure and risks of death due to having to whelp puppies she is too small too carry.

Yes I am aware of what to do while in heat.. we did that. we did the belly bandson BOTH, we placed their kennels in seperate rooms. I am not "turning this" I am simply saying You all are treating this as if I stuck them in a cage together and said whoohoo have puppies. THAT WAS NOT THE CASE AT ALL!

Again. she is not as small as stated. She was 7.03 before surgery and 5.04 ( believe was the ounces... She LOST 2.05 ounces......

Please keep in close contact with your vet and don't leave your little girl alone at all for the next several weeks! Watch her closely and hopefully she and babies will come out of this ok.
How much do the babies weigh?

So you're telling me that she was only 5.2 pounds minutes before C-section, but expect me to believe that she was almost 5 pounds herself? Serioulsy? All that fluid and three pups only weighed 3.2 ounces? I'm pretty sure even on the small end of small a newborn puppy weighs approx. 2.5oz. EACH. That is total math fail. I'm smelling a turn around story, but that's just me. ::shrug::

Unless you're claiming that the nurse wrote EVERYTHING down wrong and in that case your vet needs to get a new nurse.

With the weights you posted and seeing them next to her, it is veeeery difficult to believe she is over 3 lbs

Size of the pups against the mom just proves there is no way she is 5 pounds.

Now this math may be better for the pups if it was in pounds. If your dog weighed 7.03 ounces prior to surgery she would definitely have been too small to breed :P

Now, assuming she weighed 7.03 POUNDS prior to and 5.04 pounds after the surgery (which is far more logical). She lost 31.84 ounces or 1.99 pounds.

Is it normal for a mum to lose that much weight after birth? I'll have to defer to the actual breeders here since I have no idea what the answer is, so I can't make a judgment call on the new magically produced numbers' validity.

Awh and you are a former large breed breeder. ??? UMM would belly bands work on the large breeds?????

Awh isn 't that a funny picture, eh. Get real. You know the only way to prevent breeding is to keep all males and in heat females separate. And with large breeds you better be concerned with that. I've had males chew through metal crates to get to a female.

Correction I just reread your post, and you say you separated them with crates et al.. Um then why were belly bands necessary? If they were in their crates separated by 4 walls and two doors?

No, apparently you didn't since she ended up with a litter. As far as doing 'what was best for the situation,' that would have been having her spayed as soon as you realized she tied, not risking her life. You did 'what you wanted', not 'what was best.' What is done is done...no amount of excuses are going to change that. As far as members here being 'protective'--most see that as a POSITIVE thing. I'm glad to see that not everyone has a total disregard for the health and well being of these little dogs.

Convenient another oops! Precautions, were not taken or didn't how to take them. Oops, are usually caused by irresponsible owners.

If you really had your girl's welfare at heart the moment she was bred, she should have been spayed.

Amazing that whenever one of these horrendous acts are committed the OP always attempts to turn the table.

again, looking at the pics you posted.... either she must be the heaviest most solid dog in the world and those pups must be filled with helium for them to weight what you say, or......

On another note, it doesn't matter what the nurse--or VET TECH, in this case--told you she weighed. It's not the tech's responsibility to know how big YOUR dog is. That is something YOU should have been aware of as the owner with a bred female on your hands...not something you should sit around and wait on the vet to tell you.
