It's good that you are reading. By now I'm sure you know what a huge mistake that was.

If you have bred dogs before, you know the signs of heat. All that humping going on back in May and it didn't occure to you to separate them. When you knew they tied, it didn't occure to you to take her in to have her spayed??? It still has not occured to you to have her spayed and him neutered?

You are just asking for another Ooops. Next time you might not be so lucky, that is, if she even survives this time.

You need to start supplementing those babies. Her tiny body cannot make enough milk to sustain them without putting hers in jeapordy.

By 6 weeks old they could be bigger than she is. If they don't get enough milk, it will not make them smaller, it will make them die or be underdeveloped.

If you really had your girl's welfare at heart the moment she was bred, she should have been spayed.

Amazing that whenever one of these horrendous acts are committed the OP always attempts to turn the table.
Yes so much doesn't add up.. Admitted large breed breeder (former). Belly bands are you kidding me? I've never put belly bands on my male yorkie, my males are separated all the time from my female. They exercise separately are fed separately. are in different rooms. This is just not how a large breed breeder would naturally think, to put belly bands on as a contraceptive????? Oh and let's not forget the "humping thread". Mary do you know how to properly correct humping in a breeding male? I am sure you do, as do I. And how that differentiates between correcting with a non breeding male.

To not know in your very fingertips the weight of your little Yorkie, particularly if you were planning, planning on breeding her?| Well that is hard to swallow.

This girl I beleive in my heart of hearts was way too young and way too light to be bred. The pictures, the data on her entries, tell it all.

You know 2.4 lbs is an awfully accurate weight measurement. This poster is not from England or Canada where there is metric. Metric 2.4 @2.2 lbs per 1 metric is a little over 5lbs US.

Barbi your story doesn't ring true.

Forget all that... just know really really KNOW that your light bitchand very young bitch is at real risk for Eclampsia.

Protect your bitch and your pups.

I'm personally going to go with "or..." Of course, that's just my opinion.

I will also say, however, that we really should stop focusing on the OP for being a poor breeder if the pups need help. We should be focusing on them.

On the other hand, if the pups are fine and healthy and no further advice is needed. I say continue to say what is wrong with the situation in the first place, but the advice needs to come first and foremost to help those pups out. They are obviously in for a long haul and it seems need all the outside help they can get...

1. she was not bred on freaking purpose! I did NOT want her bred until she was at least 2-3 years old.

2. Everyone went to vet today and i was informed the nurse wrote down and gave me the wrong weight on abby. she is almost 5 pounds

3. mom IS on a diet that I RESEARCHED HERE

4 Abby has been going to the vet very regularly since we discovered her PG

5. We DID take all procautions for her heat other than kick Bailey out of the house... again THIS WAS NOT PLANNED!!

Thanks for asking... Puppies are doing Awesome. vet says they are gaining great weight and was very happy to see the mixure diet that I have her on.

anyways, I am truly sorry i posted here. Be protective is great... being like this is simply shameful. Had i NOT been concerned had I NOT been worried had I NOT given a Sh*t I would not already have a HUGE vet bill, have the vets home number, spent more time at the vets in the last 2 months than most do in 3 years.... but nothing I say is going to make any of you understand nor change your thoughts... it is what it is... we had unplanned pupps, and did the BEST we could with the Situation.
2 or 3 years old???????????? You still don't get it do you? You think she is going to be 5 pounds by 2 or 3 years old? SHE IS TOO SMALL to breed at any age.

If you had given a s**t you would have had her spayed. And you're planning on breeding her again. So where are the signs of caring.

You can tell in the picture that is NO 5 pound dog. There is a huge difference between a 2.5 and a 5 pound dog. You also said she was 5 pounds when she delivered, so what?? she didn't gain any weight?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Mom and babies and pray they will be ok.
Having said that, it's beyond me how one could not know if your Yorkie is 2.5lbs or 5lbs The difference in how that would look is HUGE. I would not need anyone to tell me that!
She looks extremely small and she's very young and should not have been bred now and unless she had grown A LOT, she should not be bred ever!
If you are actually concerned, then you will do the right thing and have this little baby spayed and never let her go through this ordeal again.
Do you plan on spaying her or do you still insist on breeding her again?

I'm glad you are helping her out. Eclampsia is very serious and you can lose the mother before you are able to get her to the vet. I've never had to deal with it, but have read where others have lost the mother so quickly.

Maybe you should just do the right thing and have that little girl spayed. She will always be too small to breed. No doubt this pregnancy has stopped her growth.

At least then you will know you did one thing right.

We all want what is best for the mom and babies. It is not going to be easy. The next few weeks are going to be critical for the mother. At 3 weeks is when the puppies start to grow rapidly and the demand for milk increases. Fortunately they are old enough at 3 weeks to start lapping up goats milk and baby rice cereal. So the demand on mom won't be so great.

I know all of you are pissed. excuse the lang. but it is what it is...

Here is what I am doing per the vet....

Mom gets this mixture 3 times a day with 1 cupof her normal dry dog food.

She has unlimited water (water feeder)

1/2 cup evaporated milk (never use whole milk, it can cause diarrhea and dehydration)
1/2 cup boiled water-cooled
1 tsp of karo syrup
1 tablespoon of plain yogurt
1 drop of a pediatric multivitamin
2 raw egg yolks

I/we are bottle feeding the pups twice a day the same mixure to take relief off of momma.

Now in reading, I have seen these things (HAVE NOT DONE THEM)

Give the mother yorkie 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese for the calcium twice a day.

Smash up a childrens vitamin (ie. Flintstone's) and give to mom 1x a day

When I bred Lhasas, when a female was in heat and I didn't want her to be bred I made sure she was well separated from the male the whole period of time she was in heat.

There is a recipe somewhere for whelping pudding.

You vets advice is probably good but generic. If one of the breeders on here gives you a recipe, I would go with that. Your vet knows dogs, They know yorkies. I have heard evaporated goats milk is better than evaporated cows milk.
