Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Nuetered (castrated) dogs can still mount. While the majority of testosterone is produced by the testes, small amounts are also produced by the adrenal glands. But spermatogenesis only occurs in one part of the body, the testes. As long as those were removed, there is zero chance of the tie producing puppies.

| In the days of harems, I think the Ottoman empire?. They put Eunuchs as guards we thought so that there would be no hanky panky with the ladies, but truthfully, some eunuchs could have lots of sex with them. Everybody knew though that any children conceived belonged solely to the Sultan as the eunuchs, without testicles could never ever father a child. Anyway that is one school of thought. just sayin.....

| A male can still tie with a female especially if he was not neutered when he was very young but no pregnancy. Similar to a man having a vasectomy. No sperm. Not a good idea though since it is sometimes traumatic or painful to a female especially with a larger dog. |

| Mitzi's Mom, that was SO FUNNY! Thank you for the laugh It's amazing that no matter how dignified I try to be my children (the ones with or without fur) always manage to bring me back to Earth! |

| No not possible unless it was immediately after the operation and even then its very unlikely. Once the testes are removed the dog no longer produces sperm Last edited by admin; 11-23-2010 at 02:16 PM. |

| Just to reinforce, there have been a few other posts about neutered males still being able to "tie" with females. But no pregnancy should result after some time have passed after the neutering, few days after the surgery there is a risk, but not years ! You will be just fine , and so will your female Blessings XOXO

| You never allow nature to take it's course. I would suggest you study more about the breeding process and the role you play before you proceed with a breeding.

The urologist would come in and spend the day doing vasectomies usually between 10 and 20 procedures. It would allow the men to recover over the weekend and be able to return to work on Monday. They would be sent home after an hour or so with an athletic supporter and ice pack.......just have a visual going on here

| WHAT...why do a vastsectomy on a male dog! They do not remove the testicles, just cut the vas ducts...male looks intact....really they are quite content to be a companion..but that is hard for some people to understand. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | She said it was her daughter's boyfriend dog, you know men . . . some are threatened by a bow in a male dog's topknot!

Back to the vasectomy though -- is this common anywhere? Anyone else seen it done? I wonder if this vet was experimenting? Maybe I am naive.
