That is a new one on me too -- have not heard of dogs getting vasectomies in lieu of castration. I would think there WOULD BE a possibility of pregnancy in this case as if tubes were to come untied and reconnect as has been documented with human males, the sperm would be free to ejaculate on demand. I would feel a lot safer with a complete neuter where NO SPERM would be produced and therefore NO chance of a pregnancy. My Ben does not seem to be missing his cojones. They were so big for his little body, I think he looks better anyway. Is that weird? Or only something a female would say?
Back to the vasectomy though -- is this common anywhere? Anyone else seen it done? I wonder if this vet was experimenting? Maybe I am naive.
