| ![]() I am sorry you are going this this, but I think you need to really look hard at your breeding stock, there seems to be a problem somewhere. As for giving them heart worm meds and being pregnant, my vet doesn't want me to give it at all during pregnancy, its poison and could hurt the puppies. After watching the video, I am so sorry that your little girl is sick, but it looks like she is suffering, I just pray you do the right thing for her.

Haha I know, I get calls all the time asking for a free puppy. The woman at the Emergency vet ( where I paid 1,800 that day ) said she ALWAYS wanted a little bitty Yorkie, could I please just give her one. she would take great care of it!! ummmmm..... In the litter that is 16 weeks I have had no less than 5-6 people ask me for one for free. I even had a lady call me 3 times. Come see the puppy and then txt me, saying she could not afford his price but would love to adopt him, to call her when I was ready for him to have a good home.. Say WHAT? LOL I have 3k into medical alone for that litter ( including section ) 2.8k into parents prices alone and thats not touching their care, food, groomer, toys oh yeah, we can afford to just hand them over.

This is the only "sick" litter I have had. I had a girl who needed a section 16 weeks ago and at a few weeks one of her pups got sick but with flagyl and clavamox he was all better in a few days. In the same litter a puppy got sick after a rabies shot but that was a mess I dont even want to think about. I should not have allowed the vet to give him that shot at just 1lb. I let the vet tell me it was best and I will never make that mistake again. All that said the vet has checked them ( 3 vets to be exact ) and pronounced them the picture of health. As for this sick litter I am not sure what do other than take the best care of her that I can. I will provide her any and all vet care she needs and continue getting up with her every few hours. I don;t see that she is in pain. She loves to play but if her condition is one that will hurt her and not give her a good quality of life I will do what needs to be done for her sake.. BUT If she just needs care and feeding and love I can give her that too. I have already decided that once all the testing is over I will look for a special adoptive family. If I can't find the right one she will stay with me for life. I brought her into this world and I am willing to take care of her for her whole life. I owe her that.

| ![]() My girl is doing much better. She eats on her own and I am now give her canned food 3 times a day. I am not taking her from her Mom, even though she is 10 weeks old now. She walks and even stands on her hind legs. Her eyes still seem to cross sometimes and she gets cold very easy. We did get blood work done and it came back normal. I am going to keep an eye on her for while longer. I am not satisfied that just because she seems to be doing so well, that this is really over. The new picture was taken today Jan 22. |

![]() She is so funny, she tries to run and she trips on her own legs. She has her Daddy's legs. Here is a picture of her brother. He is a doll baby too. His face is a little rounder than hers.

| ![]() They are both ADORABLE with a capital A!!! In reading this whole post makes me realize i can NEVER breed my Bella (even tho i know i NEVER will because she is hardly going to be over 3 pounds... 2lbs 5oz at 24 weeks of age) but not only is it a science to breeding, but to trust yourself to give them up to their forever homes... KUDOS ladies!!! i COULDNT do it for sure!! People that get into breeding dogs for money? the money is just a bonus.. raising the good sweet dogs and being able to give them up to good families.. its a tough job but someone has to do it right?! hehe im just glad its you!! |

| ![]() When our female was old enough to breed, the vet said to keep her on the Advantage, that it wouldn't hurt the pups at all. It was our first time of raising Yorkies, and we trusted the vet. There were 6 puppies born, and only one lived. The other 5 died within about 2 or 3 days, because of very weak hearts! The vet cost us the lives of 5 of our little babies!!! Reading this post all the way through, just now, I can see that there are also other things not to do while breeding through weaning . . . heartgard, flea control and worming! I had a long time breeder tell me to worm the mommy during the pregnancy, and right after she gives birth. Guess that is wrong too, but that is what she has always done -- and had good results. Sometimes it's all very confusing!!! and sad!!!!!!!!!! Last edited by motherhen; 03-06-2010 at 03:39 AM. Reason: spelled a word wrong |
