Donating YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() Does the Raspberry leaves decrease contractions and make them not want to push as hard? This was my concern with it this time. I have a bottle I bought with my last litter but didn't use it this time. I did use Oxymate but was thinking about starting to use the Bitch pills instead.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() yes, I have that one too..I got it from Revival animal, but when Taffy whelped I did not know so my vet told me about the red rabsberry leaf tea, that I could get locally and it would work faster than the syrop, but now that I feel I know a bit more I got the syrop.. ![]() |

| ![]() Yikes, theres alot of posts in here, lol. Sorry, I've been running around getting things. I'll read back once I have a bit of time..... Ok, so I went with the tea thing. She's panting nicely....I'll let ya know how she does. I did give it by syringe cause she wouldn't lap it up. Mom has been eating VERY well and the pups are doing great so far! One pup goes up .1 of an ounce everytime I weigh. The porker pup has gone up .1 so far. I will head to the nursery this evening and hopefully with some pics! |

| ![]() Mom and pups are doing great. Both have gained. Mom just is such a good mom! So far so good! Haven't come up with names yet but we are tossing around "Slate" or "Deisel" for the bigger one and "Elliot" for the smaller one. That could change before final cause I have three kids with opinions lol. Oh, did the tea thing. She breathed heavily and didnt pass anything. I am doing it again soon but in learning about this if she didn't pass anything then odds are she had no retained placenta. Every other day for three days I can give the tea. My vet also said that by now I would see discharge leading to possible retained placentas which we do not see. Her temp is 101.8. I am gonig to monitor her temp for the remainder of the week. |

| ![]() mary, I am confused. One post I read, don't know if it was yours or someone elses, saidd to give the tea after whelp for a retained placenta instead of the shot to make them expel it. Another you saidd you give it to your girls during the last trimester for various things. Now, what I am confused about is if it helps expel the placenta, if it is given in late weeks couldn't it lead to a premature labor? I have never used it but am thinking I might go to GNC or the pet store and get some for after whelp. My girl is on day 57. |

I used the tea with my Jack rusell, when I suspected a retained placenta and she passed it whithin 20 minutes. now that I feel I know a bit more, I been giving my Silkie terrier the syrop since she was 7 weeks, I yet to see results, she is due for an x ray tomorrow, and her first due date is the 22nd. I know natural holistic medicine is not for everyone, I do love the mix of traditional medicine and holistic natural medicine.. ![]() I hope this helps you a bit, hopefully Mary will explain more if you need.. hugs, Carmen in nj

No need to be confused.....It was another person that stated to give it after whelp to expel the placenta. I'm a firm believer of Oxy after the whelp. Just don't want to take my girl's lives in my hands.... Yes, I do give it during the last trimester....it what it does is help with strengthening of uterine walls, pain during the whelping process....no, it doesn't cause premature labor. I do use the Syrup from Revival a bit different than the tea. You and I know that premature labor can be caused by a multitude of reasons......something wrong with the pups, not enough room for a mother to carry full term and yes, some meds......

EDIT: Oh, I was also going to update on the tea leaf thing! It went VERY good. First round of half a cup produced heavy panting and pushes producing a glob of normal discharge stuff. Did the second round and she had no pysical reaction which indicates she is clear ![]() ![]() Pups go for tails/claws tomorrow. Is there a general rule for length of tail? Keep all brown and a 1/4 inch of black? By the looks of that you are cutting exactly half the black off, no? Last edited by Marc; 11-18-2009 at 12:22 PM.
