Why does Mrs. Biewer have a different standard signed in Germany? If this is the way she wants to go why is she not changing the standard in Germany? Why is she ok with a two color head in America but not in Germany? |
If this is HER breed, Mrs Biewer is then admitting to the introduction of breeding more than one breed to achieve the Biewer Yorkshire ala Pom Pon? Quote:

It looks to me like there are several ideologies reguarding breeding and the history of the Biewer breed. Since I am not a Biewer guru (yet) and I am kicking around the idea of showing this beautiful breed, I have a few questions. 1) Why does Ms. Biewer only endorse one club and not the others? 2) Why does one club have Ms. Biewers standard and the other is written by Miki breeders and why were they allowed to write the standard? 3) Since Ms. Biewer is the premier developer of this breed, why dont all of the clubs follow her standard and breeding practices? 4) Wouldnt it be better for the breed if the clubs could somehow reach an agreement and work together? |

Nancy, it is not my opinion about what the other clubs believe, it is what THEY have clearly stated numerous times. The BBCA and the Sue's club both have said the Biewer is a Yorkhire Terrier with a recessive pie bald gene. If I have an opinion, I state it as such. First of all this is America, not Germany. What the Germans do is their business. I have seen first hand what they have done, and we are now trying to clean it up. Mrs. Biewer is not a member of any German club. She is also aware of what the German breeders have been doing. All the clubs in Germany have differences of opinions also, so just who in Germany are you talking about Stacey. Why don't you give Gunter a call and see what his standard is? You may find out you don't know as much as you think you do. As I said, you can do what you want. |

Donna and Christine wrote that standard for the club that they belonged to at the time. I don't know how long you have been breeding, but do you remember when you first started breeding how you thought you knew everything and the longer you bred the more you realized you really didn't know much at all? I personally remember those days as though they were yesterday.:) Well, I think this is a major problem here. 4) Wouldnt it be better for the breed if the clubs could somehow reach an agreement and work together? I think so. I would love to sit down and talk to everyone. |
