The whole "parti" thing? Okay, I am SO SO SO confused about the whole parti Yorkies?! Does the AKC recognize them?! Can they be shown?! Why are they so darn popular?! According to the "old" Yorkie breed standard, I thought AKC registerable Yorkies had to be blue & gold in color?! So WHY WHY WHY are these BYB's messing with the standard?! Also, why are they so expensive?! It's a faulty WHITE Yorkie, for Pete's sake!!!! Sorry if this sounds like a rant but I am totally against people and their $$$ greed.... |
Yes, AKC recognizes parti yorkies. No, they can not be shown in confirmation events as the color is considered a fault. I'm not certain why you believe only byb-er's have partis...the possibility is possible in any litter providing the parents are carriers of the pie bald gene. As far as pricing I would imagine it's due to the scarcity. While the YTCA and some breeders may disagree ....I think they'd best get used to it...parti's are here and not going away. I would also venture to guess your post and tone just offended many of the parti owners on this board. |

Sorry if I offended anyone, I guess you could very well call me "old school." I'm not up for change. Sorry again, this thread was not at all meant to offend!! |

You just opened a big can of wormes, yah know!!LOL The YTCA standard for the Yorkies has not changed except in 2008, they added a DQ for parti/odd colors to keep these faults out of the ring. This was because of some of the shady breeding practices that these "color" breeders have been known to do.(mixing breeds to get the parti color, only breeding for color at the expense of other health issues, etc) No ethical reputable breeder of Yorkies will breed for a known fault, being health or color. AKC will register these off colors but they cant be shown. As for being expensive, I have seen these dogs commonly sell for more money than I paid for a finished champion. Kind of rediculas for a FAULT dont you think? The same can be said about the "T-Cup" breeders. Its all about the $$$$$$$$$$$. There are many threads on this same subject. Just do a search for parti yorkies. |

There are parti cockers and they are shown, why not yorkies? There are many more unethical breeders that breed basic blue and gold yorkies than there are parti breeders. I do not think for one second that someone breeding parti colors makes them unethical!! I really hope that the parti breeders jump on here and have some great back up and defend themselves because how terrible is it that someone comes on here and attacks them like that! The parti breeders here LOVE their dogs, they place them responsibly, and they breed healthy dogs and they hope that AKC will allow them to show one day! I personally hope they do too, as well as liver pigmented yorkies as well. My goodness what would it hurt? It's not like someone is trying to do something to the breed that is going to damage the health or structure of the dog, it's a color. I honestly cannot believe that people pitch such a fit over the color of a dog. There are so many other things in this world that need fixed. |
Mindi, I think probably one of the biggest gripes people have with the partis is the price. They aren't "rare" anymore, and yet, I could buy 2 biewers(well, I actually have) for what they charge for one parti. |

AKC does not set the standard for the Yorkie, the Ytca does so they are not allowed to let them be shown as the off colors are a fault. Always have been, always will be. The off colored breeders claim that they are pure Yorkie, so they cant create a new breed to be accepted by AkC either. And yes there are many things in the world that need to be fixed, but this is a Yorkie forum, not a world problem forum. |

I don't think its right if they charge so much more, but not all do. Fact is though, that it's a free country and anyone can charge any amount for anything as long as its legal, and if people are dumb enough to pay "2 arms and 2 legs" for one, that's their business. I have not personally seen a parti yorkie in person, and I have seen probably hundreds of standard colored yorkies, so to an extent they are not that common. If someone really desires to have one and has the ability to afford one, then thats just up to them. It seems rather controlling to get so upset by this. |

ooooh, it makes me so mad, I need to shut up before I open my mouth! |
I will say there is a legend that Scotties and Westies used to be born in the same litters, but it is only a legend. Scotties do come in other colors than black, white is not acceptable any more and in fact they both look different now, not the same at all . Parti's probably have lots of Malteese, Biewers come from a German breeder who had Yorky's and s**tzu's and an idea. Yes, I like them too,the ones that are more Yorky looking, but I think both examples are truely a "designer" dog bred by folks who knew what they were doing in trying to create a "new Yorky" Just like Exotic Persians, and Himalayans, cats that were created by folks with an "eye" for animal design. |
this is sofunny, this message reply thing won't let me spell S h i t z u! |
