![]() I agree - that's why when I saw my puppy I bought her because I wanted to get her out of there. We consider it a rescue

| ![]() Purchasing from a puppymill isn't rescuing. It's supporting the puppymills & allowing them to stay in business. I didn't read the entire thread. Just the last few posts. I can't imagine knowingly purchasing from a puppymill. I apologize now if my words are offensive to anyone, but I feel that this is just wrong! The place you are describing should be shut down...period. Continuing to purchase puppies from them only allows them to stay in business.

Sorry- but that's not a rescue. You gave them money, rewarding them for what they have done, and opened up more space for them to do it again.

Look up the various tests a Yorkie should have. Do bats at 16wks and again at 6months old. Hopefully you will have dodged the bullet. Liver Shunt is not rare in this breed. I'm sorry I don't have any hard stats on that but maybe anywhere from 10-30 percent of Yorkies are afflicted. I hope the best of health and loving for your and your new pup

![]() I bought my Yorkie/Bichon at Hornings Farm in Mifflinburg. I have read posts that it is a puppy mill and others that it is a puppy fam. Whatever the case may be, I was very satisfied with the conditions I saw. The couple were extremely wonderful and knew everything about every puppy there. It was clean and neat and the woman suggested I take several puppies in the outdoor area and play with them to see which I felt most comfortable with. Maybe they are not an actual breeder but I was more comfortable buying there than in a pet store where the prices are outrageous. The pups are not in cages, they are allowed to run through the entire area. I was most impressed and would buy from them again if I would desire another pup. We absolutely love our Yorkie/Bichon. I can not imagine our life without him. My granddaughter and her mother went with us to pick him out and next week they are planning to go to Horning Farm to by a Westie!! By the way, I don't think these people are Amish, I believe they may be Mennonite, but I really don't care, as far as I am concerned they were wonderful people who truely care about the pups in their care!!

![]() Either one Amish or Mennonite, both are known for the heartless, cruel treatment of their animals, whether it's dogs, cows, pigs, it doesn't matter to them - it's all "money in the bank". I know as I have witnessed their actions many times, living in the middle of an Amish/Mennonite community. But you go ahead with the future purchase of another puppy from them. Hope your conscience will allow you to sleep at night, knowing your responsible for other dogs continued suffering. Sometime just for your education, you should attend an Amish/Mennonite breeders auction. There you can see the true environment your little Bichon/yorkie mix and your daughter's future Westie lived in and where you are condemning their parents to spend their lives. Then come back and sing the breeder/brokers praises.

![]() To be perfectly honest, I really don't care what you think, if you haven't been there and seen the conditions, don't be so judgmental! I personally have heard stories where some breeders keep their dogs caged with the sole purpose of breeding AND ONLY BREEDING!!!! I can only go by what I have seen and these people run a clean place where the puppies are running freely through the runs and are extremely happy and affectionate. They knew each and every puppy by name before we looked at their name tags. So please don't ask me how I can sleep at night. How can you sleep at night being so judgmental of someone you don't know just because some Amish are puppy breeders....shame on you!!! I don't judge people by their race or religion! I am person who loves people and animals. I don't feel guilty at all when my beautiful, happy and healthy puppy is curled up in my lap or romping with my 3 granddaughters or kissing the face of my one year old grandson! I am HAPPY AND PROUD!!!! Can't wait to meet my granddaughter's Westie, actually going along to get him! I WILL CONTINUE to recommend this place to everyone! And guess what, it is a FREE COUNTRY!!!

it was not the race or religion of these people that annoys the YTers, its their livestock opinion of their dogs. no matter how clean it was or how well the people knew the puppies, a barn is no place for a small breed (or any breed imo) puppy to be. so fair enough, praise and support these people; but no matter how you try to turn this around, you are still supporting a puppy farm. plain and simple.

![]() Luckily, when people join the forum and immediately jump in to defend or criticize a breeder, particularly in a very old, buried thread, no one really views their posts as credible and takes them seriously. (50 bonus points to any new member who manages to defend a questionable breeder AND offend and insult long time members in the process ![]() Last edited by BamaFan121s; 10-14-2010 at 05:59 PM.
