I have the right to breed my dog just as you have the right to breed yours. If you dont like that fact that i bred her then thats fine with me but dont come here and jump in me for doing so..just cause you dont like mixed breeds doesnt mean everybody else doesnt.. | |

| I can understand being passionate about the breed but that doesn't mean that everytime someone comes on and asks a question they shouldn't be attacked!!!!!!!!! If you owned a cockapoo then you know that there are people out their that will love them as you did yours. Lots of people out there cant afford the high prices of yorkies and that is a shame. |

When you mix breeds you are taking all the health problems of multiple breeds and mixing them also...As ethical breeders we are working to eradicate the health problems of the Yorkshire Terrier...This is why many breeders object to the mixing of breeds...It has NOTHING to do with whether we are capable of loving a mixed breed puppy or not! Hi I just found this site and need some info please! We noticed on June 22nd that our Yorkiepoo was bleeding (she may have been bleeding before that we didnt notice)she is 2 years old . When you have a intact dog you need to check them frequently to make sure they are not in heat, this way you will be able to tract all information accuratley.. So we put her with the male on the 27th , she stopped bleeding on the 29th, he mounted her but she moved away , on the 30 they tied twice that day 10 minutes each time, ,on July 1st we were not home so not sure if they did anything, on the 2nd they tied again for like 15 minutes . The length of the tie has nothing to do with whether a bitch may become pregnant or not...We do not breed our dogs more than once a day and we NEVER leave them unattended...The dog can injure himself if the bitch decides to bite him or take off running while tied... What do you think the odds of her being pregnant are ? Without knowing when your bitch ovulated only time will tell whether she is pregnant ofr not...So in the meantime plan as if she is and get ready for the big day!...Good luck!

| Please DON'T take it the wrong way. Try to understand to take either opinion into consideration. Not everyone will agree and give you the same opinions. I could understand completely with people that have NO experience giving advice on what you should or shouldnt be doing with your dog. However there are lots of experienced long time breeders who've seen the scary part of breeding and they suffer tremendously when something has gone wrong. I went to another forum to ask sure signs that my dog was pregnant andI got slammed and sacrificed like you can't imagine! No one gave me advice .All I got was 100 questions of why did I let this happen and how irresponsible I was. I had to go into exact detail on how this happened. It was not intentional. I had read books and researched online but hearing Breeders experiences is what I wanted the most. I understand you must be angry at the moment. But many people here are telling you that things don't always go according to plan.Yes we've had several really sad and scary Whelping threads here in the past week or so.I was one of those stories. No matter how much I planned things went horribly wrong and 2 out of 3 puppies died.So now we have one baby boy .She ended up with an emergency C-section. Even though many people didnt believe in their heart that my case was an accidental breeding...They STILL ended up helping me out ,calling me on the phone and were very supportive. Because regardless that the mom is a Maltese and the dad is a Yorkie, their were the lives of the puppies that everyone agreed that they were worried for . I swallowed my pride and yes even my bit of anger for another forum and still came here and ended up getting support.I always tell people ,if they dont want anyone to disagree with them ,then just ask yourself and don't ask anyone else.I truly hope that all goes well for the mom and puppies if she is pregnant.Keep doing research ,I still am. I planned to breed my maltese with another maltese but I didnt get to do that and now I have a Morkie. We love him the same. You are correct. But I for now will keep talking to breeders and reading more and maybe one day I will try again with 2 yorkies. Sorry for the long reply but I do understand that you feel you are being slammed and not helped.Understand that most breeders here have been helping with their many years of knowledge to those here who ended up with super scary whelping cases this past week. All I can tell you is watch her very carefully. The only sure sign I saw in Lola was a clear/slightly yellow discharge from her vulva at around 5 weeks until her C-section this Monday. She went through soooo much pain and I clearly saw that in her eyes. She is spayed now and at least will get to enjoy her boy grow up with her. Good Luck,I truly mean that Genie,Cookie,Lola,Angel & Lucky Last edited by Wylie's Mom; 07-15-2008 at 10:55 AM. |

| I'm sorry, I don't want to stir anything up but I would like to bring up a different aspect to this. May I ask why you want to breed? Have you ever checked out the Humane Society or looked at any dog rescues? There are a gazillion dogs that are homeless, hungry and in dire need of love and medical attention. People think that because their dogs are cute that they would like to have another one like them. I, too, used to think that way but after reading about puppy mills (NOT implying you), back yard breeders, humane societies, dog rescues and even watching the animal planet station I realized that there are far too many unwanted pets out there. Please don't take this wrong - I love all animals and wouldn't destroy any, but the fact of the matter is there are just too many reproducing - unnecessarily. Not to be rude, but I think people who breed "just because" are just being selfish. Instead of breeding - couldn't you go and rescue a dog from a shelter? I see you're from LA... were you aware of just how many animals were left behind after Katrina? Please look at the following sites... it's food for thought. puppy mills - Google Image Search Hurricane Katrina animal victims. Dog & pet rescue organization |Animal Shelter Rescue | Muttshack Animal Rescue New Orleans ARF | Animal Rescue Foundation Please rethink about breeding. I'm not trying to preach or put you down - I just hope this opens your eyes a little bit. And yes, both of my babies are spay/neutered.

| I didnt think that any of the posts were extremely rude. This was a very educational post and the op, who seems a little close minded, just got hostile if it wasnt what she/he wanted to hear. My opionion is that just because you have a female, mix or pure, does not mean you need to breed her!! There are plenty of mix and pure breds in rescue that need loving homes. I didnt like her/his attitude: "dont tell me what to do with my dog." To me that is bordering on a very mill-ish or byber-ish attitude. To the op: best of luck. I would be planning on a litter. Please read up all you can about whelping and caring for the mom and pups.

| People were only expressioning their opionions and concerns. Nothing wrong in doing that. Nobody was slamming her. They were trying to add different perspectives, and very good points. Truth is, there are many unwanted animals all over, and many abused, and abandoned pets. breeding more of them does no service, and is is a shame. Nobody was telling it was not good for her to breed her yorkiepoo just because it was not pure. Many Yorkie owners have passion for the breed. They are protecting the breed, and know what it takes, and what they are talking about. Sorry if a new person comes on here, and does not like the answers she recieves. NOT everyone is going to agree with the post, and this needs to be respected just as much as the orginal post. The woman became defensive before wanting to even read anyone's advice or suggestions. Of course this is her choice entirely.

are the very reason the experienced breeders are no longer willing to offer advice. Come on, you guys sound like 12 year olds who are determined to be right and if the answer is NOT what you want to hear, then you get defensive and mouthy. (sorry, but that is exactly what it sounds like to me) If you already know best, then why bother coming here to ask an experienced breeder their opinion. Sorry, but I don't often get involved in bickering, but my heart hurts right now because I keep seeing some very reputable breeders who could be a goldmine of information, leave this site because of being attacked for offering their EXPERT advice when ASKED! What a darned shame! Why reply? you ask? Because we DO care about these yorkies and this breed. Because we care enough to want to prevent any more pain and suffering caused by poor breeding practices. because we were ASKED for an opinion in the first place. I did not see anyone getting slammed except the experienced breeder who you will notice is no longer posting. The OP is the one who got her panties in a knot when she didn't hear what she wanted to hear, and I am sorry to say this, but JennyLee, your posts only helped to fuel the fire.
