| majestic-- You merely stated your experiences--no harm in that. Keep searching and you will find the mentor you are looking for and achieve your goals--you just have to be determined and persistant. Of course there will be show breeders that 'snub' you and some that don't. But isn't that the case w/ people ANYWHERE you go? In their defense, preparing for and attending a show is very time consuming and stressful for breeders. Their attention and focus is on their dogs and the task at hand and emotions run high. I think knowing when to approach breeders at the show is important...when they are trying to do last minute touch ups and pefect a topknot moments before they take the ring, they are probably not going to be very willing to tear their attention away from what they are doing. A suggestion: Try to find out what breeders are going to be in participating in the next show you plan to attend. Try to make contact with them before and see if they would be willing to meet and speak with you at a time that is good for them. They are likely to be much more receptive. |

![]() ![]() I know its EASY to get discouraged. You never know, you just might find a mentor here on YT!!!I have the same dream of breeding my own show dog and one that can produce show puppies as well. I used to get very discouraged too!!! It seemed like no matter what show prospect I bought, with the intensions of showing and improving my dogs, it never panned out. Maybe you can find a reputable breeder/exhibitor in your area!! I would first check with YTCA.org, and then with your local kennel clubs. You can find shows in your area at infodog.com. Hope you have a great week-end!!!

I did a 'NEW POSTS' search the other day and almost every single one had to do with pregnant moms or newborns....it's very sad for the breed to see so many people jumping in and breeding their dog without a clue....I know everyone who wants to breed has to start somewhere but it looks like everyone and their uncle are breeding yorkies these days ![]() Just look in the Health and Sick and Emergency Section. Sooooo many sick puppies - I've never seen the site with this many. It's heartbreaking.

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ooops - to the person who started this - I wasn't referring to you in my post above !! I just see TONS of people so new to breeding yorkies - that I believe they've 'flooded' the market - I really hate using that word but couldn't think of a better one ...maybe 'overpopulated' is better ? |

![]() ![]() no - I honestly did NOT mean to sound that way...I said in my post I realize everyone needs to start somewhere.... I agree with everything you said but unfortunately - many don't do their 'homework'.....Breeders AND buyers.I'm guilty of that myself back when we bought my oldest Chanel 6 years ago. I wouldn't trade her for the world - but she didn't come from a very good breeder. I feel very lucky she has no health issues. my point was - there are so so many people breeding yorkies now that I really believe that's why some breeders are having trouble selling their puppies - that , and yes I think it's the economy too...so please don't take what I said and make it sound like I'm bashing anyone - I wasn't.

now I remember why I stopped posting completely in this section lol ![]() When I was at the pet food store the other day - there were FOUR people in with 'yorkies'. At first glance I knew they were yorkies... but after closer looks....these little guys/girls all were so poorly bred they hardly resembled what our idea of the standard yorkie is. These were 4 different people with dogs of varying ages. All were very proud of their dogs which I was glad to see - but after talking to a few of them - guess what - THEY PLANNED TO BREED.

. I also know that a lot of people labeling others as a byb dont really even know how these poor babies are treated! They really should do their homework. A more informed world (in some cases) is a better one!!![]() Tracy
