Another thing to consider when placing pups is the impact on Mom. My mothers seem to be ready to let go at about 12 weeks. The pups are starting to get independent and Mom could use a break. Before that time the moms are attached to them and I think it causes them distress to have their babies go before THEY"RE ready to see them go. I think it's easier on them, also, if the pups trickle out over a little time rather than having them all gone quickly, as can be the case if the new owners have placed deposits and are all waiting. I guess it could be different for others, but it's just one of the things I consider and have found it seems to make a smooth transition for the pups and for Mom.

I am A hobby breeder too,I want to show my babies one day, Thats what I am breeding for, And I live in N.C, I cld buy a show pup and show it but what fun is that? I want to make it out of my own lines, I have been breeding now for 12 yrs I have only had a computer for 2 yrs, I am always looking to better my lines but the show breeders snub you alot I know, They have put my dogs down hurt my feeling and made mad, But now I don't let it bother me I to have seen how some of them treat thier dogs I would never treat mine that way and I know for a fact that one very close to me use to be a hobby breeder, nw she thinks she is better than anyone around I have a website too. No one is better than anyone or thier babies they just think they are. Thank you for your post so tired of being picked on just because I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth. Sorry if I that mad anyone mad hope not, I breed for the love of the breed and my Babies mean more to me than anything including that $$ bill. Thanks Denise

Its always bad at election time, besides sometimes you just have to lower your prices or keep the puppies, |

Sadiemylady..with all due respect, you have no clue what you are talking about. The breeders home is rarely the BEST home for the puppy...it is a GOOD hoem, but not the best...think about it.

Of course, that is best for the dog and that is what a good breeder puts first.

I to agree to an exstint and have placed may of my adulds in forever homes if they can no longer breed free, I just gave two maltese away to a wonderful lady because It was just too much on me, I paid for them as a pair but Just wanted the best for them so I lost money but That is how breeding is, sometimes you get ahead and sometimes you don't, No matter what my dogs well being comes before anything and I do mean anything! If you are in it for the$$ your in it for the wrong reason, A breeder rarely makes more than they send out at least I don't, But I am always willing to do wha it takes to place my pups in forever homes because I am willing at anytime to take them back, I do not want my babies to end up in a rescue somewhere or worse in a shelter. But thats just me guess thats why I'm not rich. lol.Have great weekend everyone Denise ![]()
