what are you using to supplement them? I feel I am lucky if I even get it into their mouths.I have a puppy nurser but I don't think they can get anything out of it. All the puppies were able to latch onto it but I didn't see any bubbles move in it or the level of fluid go down. I can't find any of my daughters baby bottles I believe their nipples aren't so rigid? I had moved the whelping box in my bedroom in front of my closet. I fell asleep till 6:45 this morning around 3:30am. I am exhausted. I need to get other work done.
Isn't it true if a dog is treated with albon for coccidia for 9 days( you get a fecal at this time as the initial follow up) but during that time if he eats or licks feces contaminated with coccidia. Then Technically he could reinfect himself with if so you would have to wait another 13 days to do another fecal exam. Because it takes that long to manifest itself.

Angel vomitted this afternoon. and now has diarrhea probably from something she ate huh. I think she has been eating too much cottage cheese? I put it in everytime I fed her, she seemed to gobble everything down with it in there. She still isn't drinking much water. I cooked her some rice and got chicken broth but she won't eat it. I think she is exhausted. this afternoon she has been sleeping now since 4:30 pm. I just want to help her all I can and help her get into some kind of routine. If I don't have the door open to my room at least she eliminates on my husbands side (floor) of the bed. I do enjoy my new spot bot.

Yes, too much cottage cheese will give them diarrhea. Have you tried using whelping pudding instead? I put that in the dry kibble and Ruby ate it really well. Or just plain too. It has good nutrition in it and a little sugar for energy. If she isn't drinking water -- which she needs to make milk among other things -- put a teaspoon of Karo syrup in it (or maple syrup) and mix it up. They like that and it gives them a little boost. Add boiled or grilled chicken breast meat to her food with a little broth over it, warm it slightly and see if she eats it. Rice is gentle on the stomach but not much nutrition in it.

She's be asleep awhile, check her gums and you might also take her temp just to be sure. A little Nutri-Cal might not be a bad idea if she is really tired.

Here is recipe for WHELPING PUDDING that I used:

Large package of Vanilla Pudding (cook kind)
1/2 Cup sugar
4 Cups milk
4 Egg Yolks

Cook on low heat stirring until thick. Let cool and give it at body temp. Give about 3 tablespoons a day between meals. You can also mix a little with the food to make them eat a little more. Make a half recipe because this is quite a bit.

Skittles is still a lady in waiting this morning. Her temp is still in the 99's and she ate fine this morning. She has been sleeping on her back and it seems the puppies are coming down. Today is day 63, tho according to Debbie Jensen website she is due the 24th. So time will tell. I am in no hurry myself just anxious with the anticipation of birthing 4 pups!:)!

I know what you mean. I was rubbing Yahtzee's belly last night and got all in a panic. What if they mated before I saw them? What if it's just one big puppy? What if..... What if..... I've never had my momas xrayed, but I'm sure tempted to take Yahtzee in. I called the vet I use for xrays and the little lady at the desk says, "Well, honey just wait a few more days and you'll find out for free!" Gotta love these country vets!

We'll do fine, just relax.

Is anybody keeping any of your puppies? I get to keep a girl (if we have one).

Gina is not showing any signs of labor. She ate this morning and her temp went up to 100.1 from 99.2. She is very uncomfortable. She is not drinking alot which concerns me. I do add water to her puppy dry food to soften it up and then add can food for additional flavor. This is the only way she will eat. I had to put water in my hand and then she drank. only a little though. She is laying around alot, sighing but seems to be alert. Felt the puppies moving around this morning (good sign). I'm so anxious I can't stand myself...LOL I'm going to go clean to relieve my anxiety. Will keep you all updated. Don't think its going to be today though but you never know.

I'm leaving work now to go to a United Way Fashion Show that my Vice President is in, taking vacation day tomorrow to go to MIL's for the day, Monday is Memorial Day Holiday - so I don't come back to work until Tuesday morning!!!!!!!!! I'll check in every chance I get.

No...her name is Bellagina..when I first bought her she was named Lady so I my husband got to name her..so he picked Gina and I threw in the Bella...so on her papers she is Lady Bellagina .my last name is Isabella so the bella gets used alot around here. I have 2 goats ...mom & daughter and we named the mom Isa (e-sa) and the daughter Bella.

Oh that is so pretty, "Lady Bellagina". Sounds Italian! :D Oh my gosh. I love how you named the goats. Ya I can see how the "Bella" gets used alot.
I have often wondered how people come up with names for their pets. I usually had help with mine. My Rocky was named after the boxer and my father(Rocco), I have an Aunt Rosie (LOL) and my granddaughter liked it too, Romeo, granddaughter named,
And Raindrop was from me, she is so little, like a little Raindrop!

Hey everyone! I took Ritzie to the vet yesterday for her xrays and she is having 2 puppies. I got to see the little skeletons. I am so excited. This is her first litter so I am nervous. She is due on the 26th. It could be any day now! I will keep yall posted!

One of my aunts wants a boy, a couple who got a boy from Yahtzee's last litter wants another boy from this litter (so Mojo can have company) a nephew's wife wants one, and my niece (currently living with me) wants one. We'll see what we come out with. This "breeder" will never make a profit with such a large family. It's always - my friend's mom wants one, my neighbor wants one, etc.

I had forti-cal and karo syrup, that helped alot. I think her watery stools have slowed down. I bought some nutri cal, My daughter cooked the chicken for me and she will eat chicken broth. the supplement milk esbilac said it would be good to give to her sprinkled on her food, Tonight she is panting again she had been laying on the heating pad for over and hour though. I take the pups to the vet tomorrow for dew claws and tail docking. I might have him give her a bolus of fluid just to give her some added energy to get her through the weekend. I put pictures of her and the pups on my page I just haven't had time to figure out how to add them to any posting's. I have surely enjoyed your advice . Thank you very much you have been very helpful. I have nursed human babies in OB, I have whelped bigger dogs but never my own dog. Never my own dog. I feel like these are all my children. I read something about coccidia and horror stories yours have went through and I get all worked about it. I am a nervous wreck.

Bloody diarrhea
 

Goodmorning woke up to find Rose in a mess of bloody diarrhea. It is day 58. What does this mean? She has just eaten breakfast as usual. No signs of any distress. I have to go to work should I leave her?

Oh Gosh I wish I could help you. I have not gone through this, but I would probably call my Vet. Bloody, and Diarrhea, just don't seem to go together in my book, especially when she is due for puppies. I would call my Vet, and see what they say, and is there anyone that can watch her if you have to go to work? Poor baby. Here's wish you good luck. I will say prayers for you and Rose. :hands::hands::hands::hands::hands::hands:

How are all the babies this morning? Barbara how is Gina doing? Today is her day, Right? (and my daughter's birthday)
Also, how is Skittles? She is due tomorrow. We have 8 more days for this month, people, and a lot of little babies to be born. :p :p :p
I'm here in the waiting room, praying :hands: all the babies, and their mommies will be ok.
