We don't show Yorkies at all and to be honest I don't know if I ever could after reading here on YT what U show Ladies/Gentlemen go through....It must be exhausting & so very stressful for U... I don't think people give the Show People enough credit for all the do and go through to have these beautiful doll, let alone show them!!! And yes it has to be so expensive also... And for the CH line or name and breeding rights I would and did pay a high price!! To me she was well worth every single penny spent, U know when I adopted her I adopted her breeder as well, her knowledge...(Her Breeder is Tami "Lady Hawk" and she is the one that told me when I adopted Sage I adopted her as well!!! I never knew this until she told me!!!) She has helped me with Tiffanie and Teddys' last litter any questions I have she answers truthfully even if it isn't what I want to hear!!! And guess what her Sage hasn't even been bred yet! Won't be until the Spring 2009!! But she is my God Sent, without her & this Forum where would I be??? Another Backyard Breeder??? Is worth every dime spent on Tami alone let alone our baby!! I don't think everyone here really truly understands all it take so whelp a litter of babies, let alone finding the right homes for them!! It's sad to see so many dolls go to the "What we thought was the prefect home and later find out they aren't the perfect home to where our dolls are being inbred and used every single heat to breed and then probably used sometime even on their 1st heat"!!! |

As far as children....depends on the child. I have a 7 year old who is better with these dogs than alot of adults I know. She had it drilled into her head from a very early age. But again, how is a breeder supposed to know? Take someone's word for it? A breeder retains the right to place one of their dogs in an environment THEY feel comfortable with. Alot of children are not brought up to know how to handle dogs and if a breeder is not comfortable taking that chance, that is their right. |
I work part time outside of our home, but I work full time with every single Yorkies I have!! 5 of them, I get up every single morning, feed, water, change blankies, wash beds out, wash 5 faces, put 5 pony tails in, clean litter boxes, change puppy pads, redo ponytails, feed and water again, sweep and mop their floors, water on and off all day long, break up puppy fusses, plus doing their laundry and bathing all 5 of them every week which by the way takes me around 4 to 5 hours to do!!! Plus I have 2 daughters to care for, their baths to give (Well help my 9 yr old wash her hair) homework, meals to cook, our laundry, our house to clean, we run our own construction business so there's the book work on that to do, plus a man to care for on top of our Yorkies! I work my BUTT off inside my home forget the OUTSIDE WORK, anyone who says I don't work I'd gladly give them my INSIDE job for 1 day!! I keep asking my hubby if I die will he do all I do for my Yorkies, guess what no answer to be truthful he probably wouldn't be able to do it all!!! So breeding and raising Yorkies right in a clean well kept home isn't for the weak and I don't even show them, well I do I show them here at my home they are to me my prize babies even tho they have no ribbons on the wall from any wins they have won my heart, this is why I breed!! For the love of my breed and yes they are my breed! I cherish all the time invested in my loves, I cherish all the sleepless nights, all the pee and poo I clean, yes since I've had so many babies I have HUGH bags under my eyes!! Why sleepless nights, worrying where how my adopted dolls are!! That's why. I have given and yes I said given 2 of our Yorkies away along with their Mother (Which I had spayed before rehoming her!!) and all supplies they needed even made a 8 hour trip, there and back to Ohio to make sure they had a good loving home!! Did I make a dime from those 3 babies why no but I got the joy and so did their parents of knowing they will live long lives being loved and wanted!! I didn't and haven't made tons from adopting Yorkies out!!! None of my dolls has been adopted out for no more then $500.00 and some didn't even reach 5 lbs. at 20 months old. I have all the cost on our 1st litter with Teddy and Tiffanie and we're in the hole with them so no there's no money to be made here at my home in raising Yorkies!! And I know we're in the hole with our last litter no doubts there I haven't even added it all up yet and yes I keep all receipts for each and every penny spent on ALL our Yorkies!!! And no I don't see it as loosing money I see it as a joy to raise Yorkies and try to better our breed (I'm Working on breeding toward the AKC Standards and not away from it!!!) And as far as the adverting it does help us find good homes for our babies here I found a wonderful home for one of our babies through YT... In the case of Dillin "Moe" he was a wedding gift to a new bride from her new groom out of GA. His aunt found him here and he went to his new parent through her...He has the best home he could ever ask for, his own room, tons of clothes, toys, walks everyday and most of all love. We only have "Pet Quality" babies with a spay/neuter contract only with our previous litters and he was adopted for $500.00 far from my starting asking price of $800.00 out of our 5 babies we have adopted out to homes only 1 (DILLIN) out of 5 babies has been spayed/neutered and that is the sad part of this, one I've never laid eyes on, parents won't answer any call so I'd say she's been bred!! They have no papers so they must be adopting them out without them!! If it wasn't for this forum my Dillin would of never found his forever home!! He was 6 months old when he was adopted!!!! And not at a high price!!! |

I don't plan to have any children for several reasons...but I was telling someone the other day that one reason I'm not having kids is so that I won't have any problems finding a yorkie. LOL My dogs will be my children |

I think we should make a list of the pet pushers. But then you would get the posts of "No fair, if it weren't for "FiFi's mommy", I wouldn't have my precious baby" Hmm, well maybe you paid top $$$ for your precious baby who has ears like a Papillion and you don't even realize it because puppy love is blind. My friend brought a girl from a "top breeder" and paid 3,500 and at 1 year old, the dog weighs over 10 pounds. She would never say anything because the dog is the love of her life. Well, that's what these breeders count on and you, the pet buying public are being had and what's more, the sweet people who sell you these dog, know they are taking advantage of you but smiling to your face and chatting you up and down. Don't pay top price from any breeder who does not actively show their dogs. There is a big difference in quality and there should be a big difference in price. |
Oh and I also forgot the no sleepin' in part of my Yorkie Job!! Yes that right now that my 2 youngest daughters (9 & 12) are just starting to sleep in till say 9 or 10 well my Yorkies babies will NOT sleep in they get up NO later then 8 am!!! Every single day!! No holidays, no vacations!!! Who is gonna babysit my Yorkies?? Who will do ALL I do for them?? Take them to a dog sitter (No Offense to those who do this Dog Sitting Job) why that would cost as much as our spending money on Vacation!! So there is more to Breeding and raising Yorkies then some people think, some may make money but they are doing it the right and proper way! Even I am still learning and I'm what U would call a Young Breeder compared to those who have been doing it for 15 plus years! |

I have raised my babies with my dogs. My kids are taught from birth how to handle animals. I think it would be rediculous to never have had my dogs because I didnt want my kids to break them. I want my children to love animals just as much as I do, and withholding animals from them would be counterproductive. I understand that a breeder has a right to sell to whomever they want. With my shih tzus, I always prefer they go to a home with children. I dont want them to become little nippy crabs because they were never around children. I think children help shape a dog into a friendlier pet. My grandma has my Joe's brother Murphy. Everytime we ar there the dog runs and hides and if my kids try to touch him, he nips at them. Joe would never do that. |

They tell you their horror stories about how they had a c-section and lost all the puppies, and yes, it happens, but how about the 4 other litters they produced with 4 puppies each that you sold for $5,000.00 (or more) per litter? It's not a crime but it is a fact that for some reason, nobody wants to admit! Why shouldn't a breeder make a few bucks for all the work they do to produce top Yorkies that people want? Even if they put it back into their dogs, they do it because that's what they want to do... It's their money. (I'm not talking about pet pushers here, I'm sorry, I find them to be like hillbillies because they refuse to go forward and improve their dogs and don't even see that their dogs are below standard) |
