| Are the Biewers considered a different breed than the yorkies? (I understand the partis are a color variant) And how is their coat and temperament different?

| Parti's may be considered a yorkie but it's a color fault. Just with any other fault a yorkie has, a breeder dedicated to the breed would try and breed any fault out whether it be "parti" or a bad bite ect....I wasn't going to comment but why would anyone reputable want to breed a known fault? To better the breed is to breed out the faults and always breed for health! JMHO Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

| The Biewer is accepted as it's own breed in Germany but not (yet) in the U.S. The Biewers I have seen, and own, have a thicker coat and you can't describe it...you have to feel it. Their temperment is more laid back and quiet. |

Basically they are the same dog started the same way. Two traditional colored yorkies produced a parti colored pup. The Biewers are now a breed of their own and they have their own standards. The parti breeders in America are working towards doing the same thing. YTCA doesn't like to admit that the partis even exist, but they haven't heard or seen the last of us. LOL

I am a future breeder of the parti color and I will always be a person that is reputable. I, however, do not see this color as a fault....I see it as genetics at it's finest. Tammy

The origins of the Biewer are the same as the origins of the parti. They both started from two traditional colored yorkies. the Germans developed the biewers into a breed of their own and set standards. The parti breeders are working in that same direction. I am not sure on this statement, but I believe the only way you can get a registered Biewer is to breed 2 registered Biewers. I don't beieve you can register them as Biewers if they are a product of two yorkies. But I do not know that for a fact.

I guess what I'm saying is, when it is stated that "parti breeders are working to get them accpeted," what are the specific goals there? Last edited by BamaFan121s; 12-31-2007 at 08:09 PM.

It is a color fault for a "yorkie" but it is not a color fault for a "parti". Parti breeders do not want to show them as yorkies. We want them to have thier own place in the ring.
