when i got my yorkie the lady told me when she took him to the vet at 6 weeks he was 1lb. when i took him to the vet two days ago for his 9 week vist he was 2lbs 3oz...can anyone give me an idea of how big he might get?

Probably around 4 pounds, give or take some ounces.
The rule of thumb goes like this:
Triple the weight at 7 weeks and that is a good estimate of adult weight.
Or
Double the weight at 12 weeks for the adult weight.

Remember the toy breed dog like Yorkies reach adulthood at 6 months. So expect your little Yorkie to slow lots or stop growing at about 6 months of age.

I would guess between 5 and 8 pounds. At 7 weeks, my sibling pair were both 1 pound 2 oz, and as adults they are 5.4 for the female and 8.7 for the male. Gaining 1 pound 3 ounce in 3 weeks, from 6 to 9 weeks seems like a lot of gain.

Our baby was 16 weeks when we were finally able to "pry her out of our breeders fingers"!!

She weighed 1 lb. 8 ozs. ... Toto surprised us all, even Dr. Lucy ... she was a year old in July and the little "porker" weighs 4 lbs.!!! I think sometimes it's even difficult for an "expert" to estimate an exact weight and we knew this when we bought her. I think that a good breeder will give you a very educated "guess" but had Toto gotten as big as a Saint Bernard we couldn't possibly love her less ... I just wouldn't be able to carry her in my bag!!!

I checked Sadie's vet records and at 6 weeks she was 1 lb. At 10 weeks she was 2 lbs. Now she is and adult right at 4 lbs. The weight I expected.
You also have to factor in body type. Sadie is quit short and stocky while others of her same weight I have see tall and thin looking. So she actually looks smaller than she weights in.

how should i feed my dog he is now 9 weeks i have been just leaving food out for him 24/7. Should i just feed him 3 or 4 times a day and if so how much?

Always leave food and water for your puppy. He or she should never go without. Yorkies blood sugar can drop rapidly without food. This is very important for the first 12 weeks.
My Sadie ate small meals all the time as a pup and we never had a problem with her blood sugar getting to low. But I have heard horrible stories of puppies that were left alone or without enough food. You can end up at the vet or even some have lost a puppy. Also, keep some nutrical (vitamin paste from pet store) on hand in case your pup needs a boost. It has saved lives.

SO, are there any pictures of your little pup for us to see?
We love puppies and love to see pictures of them as they grow.

i have pictures of him but i don't know how to put them up when i try it keeps saying they are too big

Yep, I know what you mean. I had to learn how to change the size of my pictures then save them that way to post them here or just about any where else.
If you have an image software that probably came with your camera just change the size of the picture and save it that way. 5x7 works good for me. You may need to take the time to play around with it if you have never used it before.

shannonL ... you have already gotten lots of good advice! I just wanted to share a "tip" that our vet told us.

Our little babies are very high energy and the sugar level can drop unexpectedly "like a rock". She told us to have a small container of white Karo syrup in Toto's bag at all times in case we got caught without the NutriCal and gave us, in addition to the veterinary formula NutriCal, some of the little "cc" syringes. If we happen to have a sugar drop we just give her about 2cc of the syrup. You can tell by checking her gums and if they are very pale that's one sign that the sugar has dropped. We give her about 2-3cc NutriCal every day because she is such a "picky" eater and we want to be sure she gets all the vitamins & nutrients she needs!

Yes, you just need to resize the pictures to under 200kb per image. That's plenty big enough size to view any picture you may have.

so per this weight chart your baby would be 6 lbs...hope that helps

by the weight chart your baby will be between 4.5-5 lbs but remember it is only an estimate...

another old thread has popped up!

That chart was pretty accurate for me, when i got Pixie from the breeder at 14 weeks she was 1lb 8oz she's now 3lbs (just under) at 14 months old.
