NO!! If you want to have him on a schedule and housebreak him then you need to feed him 2 or maybe 3 times a day and take him out about an hour after he eats otherwise he will pee and poop all over the place. Trust me I know from experience, my female yorkie, Fancy, she wasn't potty trained until I put her on a schedule and she was potty train in two days!!!! It is soooooo important to put them on a schedule!!!!

Lots of people free feed, especially the first 6 months. You will not have poop all over the place, besides, a puppy should NOT have full run of the house. Free feeding is especially important when you pup is under 4 pounds, and will help prevent hypoglycemia.

I agree that they should not have full run of the house but they will poop and pee in their crate or wherever they are staying. I thing free feeding is just as crazy as vacinations except for rabies. I am raising two 8 week old puppies and they have never been healthier in their life. They have never had a single shot and I also don't believe in giving shots until they are 1 year or at all. None of my animals are ever getting any shots except rabies.

I think double the 12 week weight works pretty well. I try to keep in touch with birthday cards , I always ask for pictures, weight , health information, cute stories etc. To put in my 'Proud Puppy Book'. People adopting love to see past puppies.

I free feed my dogs and they don't pee or poop in their crates. I take them out frequently to do their business and I also leave a puppy pad out for them in "their" space. Since 2 days after I brought them home, they used the pads and have never gone in their crate. I also only use their crate for sleeping, but leave the door open so they can go in anytime they want.

Just because YOU don't do it, doesn't mean it's crazy.

I think you are making a grave mistake, please do more research on the matter, yes, some people believe we are over-vaccinating our dogs, but don't go the other way, and not vaccinate them at all! These diseases are painful and deadly, you shouldn't give vaccines before 8 weeks, the mother’s immunities keep them safe that long, but they need their first years shots, all the experts agree on this, what you do after the first year is up to you, and you will at least get some people to side with you, but all the experts believe they need the primary shots the first year. I wouldn't give rabies until around 6 months, and don't give it with any other shots.

This one reaches 18 months, but jumps from 26 weeks to 18 months.
