![]() If a dog seriously injures or kills a person, I don't have a problem with euthanasia. If a dog seriously injures or kills another dog I think it is case by case. Pits are very often dog aggressive. That isn't a surprise. It is no fault of their own if they have an owner who can't secure a fence. It is also no fault of their own that many owners shoud not be owners and warning signs aren't caught. Like people leaving a kid and with a dog and blaming it when it attacks saying there were never signs of aggression. As soon as you leave the room and your vulnerable child is alone with any dog IMO your opinion is no longer credible. You have no idea what that child did to cause fear in that dog. Fear directly translates to aggression. It is really sad to see all the discrimination. According to temperament testing pitties are one of the best dogs in the world. They are famiky dogs. Poorly bred, poorly trained, poorly treated, or poorly read they are going to be dangerous just like any animal. When I am settled soneday I hope to have pits bc I think they are special.

The 'pit bull' we rescued a few Christmases ago (so many of you followed our rescue pittie, Ambrey) was a bigger pile of goo than our 3 yorkies put together. ![]() Sure, there are dangerous 'pit bulls'...as well as dangerous germ sheps, labs, yorkies, chi's, labs, Goldies....you name it, pick a breed and there will be dogs who have gone the wrong way, unfortunately.

If a dog seriously injures or kills another dog I think it is case by case. Actually I would take that on a case by case basis. The guard and protect breed is trained and bred to protect. They are usually the larger breeds, with serious bite strength. If someone broke into our home, and btw just last month we had three home invasions pretty close to where we live; then all bets are off! In two of those home invasions, one person was seriously injured and one person was killed. Trust me, my dogs and probably my cat too, would protect me in that situation. Nobody has the right to invade my home and threaten my person or my loved ones! It is one reason our BRT's at night are loose in our home - our Yorkie for his safety sleeps in his crate. The safety for the YOrkie is I don't want the BRT's stepping on him, or frankly him chasing the cat all night ![]() I also take my BRT with me, when I work late. I know other of my friends take their dogs with them when they make night deposits et al. I firmly believe my dog has the right to protect me and my loved ones, as well as my possessions.

| ![]() I just watched "Beyond the Myth" on Netflix tonight. If you have the chance, I would recommend it. It's available to watch instantly right now. There is a lot of good information about this topic.

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() All Yorkie lovers need to watch where they take their dogs. I see dogs at the park attacked. Some dogs are aggressors. Beware! I wish those pit bulls were all gone. Poor children attacked by them. I do not trust them at all. Too many bad raps. |

| ![]() Sandy Simpson, you sound like the perfect person to view the documentary I posted about. They do have a bad rap...but not because they are any worse then any other dog. It's because the media has portrayed them as such. It is so frustrating and upsetting to me that so many of these innocent dogs are being stereotyped as bad animals. They deserve a chance at being a good family pet just as our Yorkies do. These types of inaccurate beliefs are taking that chance away from them as well as good dog owners who choose to love them give them a good home.I can't honestly cannot imagine how anyone who loves dogs could possibly feel any differently than that.
