[QUOTE=Ellie May;4073889]

If a dog seriously injures or kills a person, I don't have a problem with euthanasia. If a dog seriously injures or kills another dog I think it is case by case.

Actually I would take that on a case by case basis. The guard and protect breed is trained and bred to protect. They are usually the larger breeds, with serious bite strength.

If someone broke into our home, and btw just last month we had three home invasions pretty close to where we live; then all bets are off! In two of those home invasions, one person was seriously injured and one person was killed.

Trust me, my dogs and probably my cat too, would protect me in that situation. Nobody has the right to invade my home and threaten my person or my loved ones!

It is one reason our BRT's at night are loose in our home - our Yorkie for his safety sleeps in his crate. The safety for the YOrkie is I don't want the BRT's stepping on him, or frankly him chasing the cat all night And our BRT's sleep in our bedroom, but if someone where to break a window to enter or pick a lock, it would not be long before those Blackies would be up and about.

I also take my BRT with me, when I work late. I know other of my friends take their dogs with them when they make night deposits et al.

I firmly believe my dog has the right to protect me and my loved ones, as well as my possessions.
