| Microchipping...Yay or Nay? I pick up my new baby tomorrow and I'm very excited!!! I was just wondering if everyone has their dogs microchipped and if anyone suggests it. I've been doing some research about it but I'm wondering if it will hurt the puppy in any way and if its really beneficial. Any thoughts?

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | All my dogs are microchiped and now i am going to start microchiping my puppies before they go to their new homes... just a precaution, I would hate to see one kill in a shelter.. or lost without a collar and no way to find his way back to me.. just think about your baby being lost and no way he can tell, with the microchip sooner or later chance is someone is going to scan him.. so my vote is 100% YES.. hugs, Carmen in nj |

| I wish someone would have told me to do that...I've heard the best time to get them microchipped is when you get them spayed/neutered (if you plan to do that) since they are put out for that anyway. i wish someone would have told me to do that at the time I got mine spayed & neutered (I have a boy & a girl) but I didn't, so now i don't know if I will since I don't know what I think about them getting it done when they're awake. I haven't heard of anyone regretting getting their babies microchipped, and I do worry about what would happen if their tags ever fell off & they got loose. I would say do it but you can wait a little while. Congrats on the new addition to your family!

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | The vet I used and the new vet I am using does not like to put them under anesthesia if microchip only, he uses a topical anesthetic and then inserts the chip, it took my girl 5 minutes she was 5 months of age when I got her and microchiped her.My stud was my first dog to be microchiped and he was done while a visit for teeth cleaning.. any chance to get them done I had used..LOL, my other 2 were done while spaying and neuter was done. hugs Carmen in nj |

| Microchipping is fantastic. These Yorkies go missing (or are even stolen) all the time. At least if your baby is microchipped you can prove without a doubt that he/she is yours. My Missy is chipped, and Dora will be too with her spay @ 6 months of age.

| All of my dogs are microchipped and I am living proof that it may be the only way you have to get your dogs back should they be lost or stolen. None of mine have had any reaction to the chip and it gives me peace of mind that they will be returned to me if they go missing. We travel quite a bit and I feel a little more secure taking them along knowing my babies are chipped. One piece of information though...if you get your puppy chipped...SEND IN THE REGISTRATION WITH YOUR CHECK. You wouldn't believe how many people think just because their dog is chipped they are done...you're not...you or your vet has to fill out the information flyer and send it in to the company with your information and check so the chip is registered to you. If you don't do this our dog will be chipped but there is no way to tell who it belongs to. |

| I have always microchipped my yorkies and plan to do that with Chloe and Dylan when they get spayed/neutered in about a month. It takes a couple of minutes to do and gives me the piece of mind that if something was to happen there would be a possibility of the safe return.

| Niko is getting a microchip in 2 weeks under anesthesia. While he's out, he'll be neutered.

| Sophie was microchipped without any anethesia. She yelped, but it was over in just a second. I haven't had Jacie chipped yet, but I plan to.

Senior Yorkie Talker | My baby boy Ares (yorkie) is two months old, and we have another dog (a boxer) tank he is a year old. I had tank microchiped when he was 6 months old. The vet here (we just moved) told me to wait until Ares is 5 or 6 months old. I would say yes! My lil baby is so cute and anytime we take him out we get threats lol and compliments! With tank after we moved we called and updated all his info, and I would feel safer knowing he is microchiped. I want Ares microchiped a.s.a.p!

| I think there is not even one reason NOT to chip your baby. the vet can do it anytime, they do not need to be under, but yes, it is quite a large needle. Uni came from the breeder with her chipped already, so I didn't have to pay for the chipping, but I did have to pay to register it. Her chip is Avid, and the registry service we have is Home Again. You can upload a picture, enter in description, and of course, your contact info. Registration is $17 (what I paid, may be more now) for the life of the pet. You can upgrade to $14.95 a year (I think if I remember correctly) and get some extras, but I didn't do that. One thing that I remember hearing on the news, if/when you do get your baby chipped, don't put that info on the tags, or don't buy a tag from Home Again. Some thieves, if they KNOW your baby had a chip, they will dig them out! So there's no way of IDing them.

| Lexi is chipped too. We had it done when she was spayed and had her extra teeth out. She had no problem at all with it. I would definitely do it. Good luck with your furbaby Hugs Cheryl & Lexi |

| I got Jackson chipped while he was neutered. I feel it's definitely worth it! Anything that could possibly get my baby back to me... is so worth it to me. It doesn't hurt them, and it provides me with a peace of mind. It saves enough animals to know that it does work!

| Get a microchip for your pup. They can easily slip out the door or be taken. You will have a much better chance of getting your dog back and can identify them as yours. Hopefully, this will never happen, but it will give you peace of mind.

| I figure, why not? If it is another way to get my Couver back home, I will take it. If I could chip him with a GPS, I would do that as well. I figure anything is worth it if he finds his way back into my arms Couver had his done when he was neutered, but both my cats had theirs done with no complaint. I'm sure it stings for a second, but for the peace of mind it gives me... I know they can handle it!
