| If it is just the rabies and you aren't worried about him getting the disease because it is extremely unlikely on city streets, then sure if he is up to it. Shots don't work that fast though, so he would most likely still be considered unprotected. I would wait 1-2 weeks after giving the last round of DHP to go out of the yard.

| I walked Jackson before his Rabies shot. He went to baseball parks for little league games, walks in neighborhoods, etc. He didn't go to a dog park until his Rabies though.

| yea i plan on having him walk around the neighborhood. i won't take him to the dog park ever. he has never set foot outside and he's 6 months old. i'm so overprotective. i wanted to make sure he got all his shots first. now that he's going in for his last set of shots, i'm just excited to take him out. i want him to enjoy being a dog you know?

However, in an urban setting, where streets may not be as pristine as other parts of the country, it is understandable for an owner to be a little more cautious with a 2.5 lb yorkie under 6 months old. This is also assuming that there are no other dogs in the household. I'm all about giving dogs the chance to be just that, dogs. But at the same time I think it's perfectly normal for first time owners to be a little more cognizant of the surroundings of their dogs. In those 6 months, the puppy can still be exposed to other dogs in a controlled environment. Some owners may not want their <6 month old yorkie running around in a dirty dog park covered with feces and woodchips. Just my opinion. *ARF* | |

| I would consult your vet. My dogs are fully vaccinated, but my vet recommended that they not be walked or socialized with other dogs until they are a year old She said there is way too much Parvo in my area to chance it. |

I'm sorry, but in this case, I totally disagree with the vet. I have never in my life heard of keeping a dog inside for a YEAR. That's absolutely insane, sorry, lol. If Parvo is high in your area, then don't bring him to dog parks or Petsmarts' or places like that.. but a dog is a dog and they need to go outside and experience the world and their own species.

YT Addict | I live on a wooded lot of two acres. My pup us 15 weeks and goes on walks in his pouch with me And my senior yorkie on our lit. I won't out him on the ground until the Dr releases him which us at 28 weeks. We have Parvo in our area and many wild animals and domestic run freely at night in our property. Until he has heartworm medication and flea meds I won't do otherwise. |

| Well for the moment Tilly is getting through Coccidia, so she won't be going outside untul that is done with at least. She will he going in for her next round of shots soon + a fecal to see if the Coccidia is moving on and i'm going to ask the vet when I can take her on walks then. I do think that for a bit I will carry her mostly though when outside, until i'm comfortable with her being in the grass where I live. There are a lot of dogs in my community and it makes me nervous...what if she gets Coccidia again or Giardia? Eeeeep it freaks me out but I know it is something i'll get over once she is a little older (and better at hitting the potty pad). As for places like Petsmart or dog parks.....we won't ever go to a dog park...for multiple reasons. And when we go to Petsmart i will probably keep her in the cart. Mostly because I don't trust people and can see her getting stepped on. |
