| Peeing in belly band every hour to 45 mins Now I dont know what else to do. I put on the belly band as one lady said, yorkie is still peeing in the belly band. Pom has not done this yet. Both of them refused to eat this morning . My question is this, I read that when a dog gets older they do not need to pee as often as they did when they were infants. So for five months, he should be holding for 5 hours. Now if he is peeing this frequent at five months that this could be a sign of Diabetes? Any ideas here? Should I take him to the vet and run a series of tests on him, he is not sick so I was wondering if this is necessary as his passport shows he is fully cared for with worming etc vaccines etc. At the moment it is bitter cold here 3C and that is biting, could the coldness be the reason he is peeing so much? I have crated him and will keep him in the crate for one hour then let him out to wee and play or be terrorized more likely by my Pom . I am fed up breaking up the attacks, Pom is not being nice at all . So I put yorkie in this wash room and he has paper and wee pad, he proceeds to pee on the floor and on the bed in his belly band . So my only choice is to crate him now right? How often should he be crated and what is and isnt humane? Can I crate him every second hour for one hour? Will this be ok. He doesnt seem paranoid to be in there at all |

| Soleil is also five months old and seems to hold it for about an hour...then she goes out to relieve herself..although she can hold it all night. Maybe he is getting too much water? I have heard putting ice cubes instead of water in the bowl for heavy drinkers works..is he drinking alot?? I fill up a medium sized stainless steel bowl and my two yorkies and 30 pound Boykin Spaniel and two cats dont drink it all in one day..there is always some left in the bowl at the end of the day...I always put the water dish up at 6pm and it is down all day..what are you feeding him..the food could be making him extra thirsty too..if worse comes to worse a vet visit is always an idea..Soleil wears Prissy Pants and she rarely pees in them but she does have accidents once in a while.. | Yes, he goes thru a 500ml bowl of water in no time at all. Should I reduce the water? I just got off the phone with the Vet. He said no need to come. He also will not neuter until 10 months. No vet will do it before that. My pom does not drink as much as hold usually for about 5 to 7 hours and can hold over night as much as 9. Vet said crate him also. I hate doing this but oh well. It is my only choice. This morning he peed on my dining room chair leg on the carpet and I only now saw it as well. Now pom just poop in his BED in the wash room just a while ago. What the hell is happening. He refused to poop outside and now did it there . Now I have to retrain the Pom as well? I took him out as usual and he didnt do it or eat bfast, but proceeds to poop on the bed? Geeze. this new puppy was suppose to calm things around here not make my life a wreck . Now I have to retrain him as well ? I am not showing them I am mad, but keepign them apart, cuz I will get nothing done at all with this sort of madness happening. And if they cant be neutered until 10 months. Good lord, I can only imagine what my house will look and smell like. |

If he is drinking lots of water, please don't reduce it until you see a vet and ask him to check for diabetes. I had a terrier who was diabetic the last 2 years of her life. She started drinking lots of water and having accidents in the house even though she had been potty trained for years. I had to learn to give her injections every day. Let the vet know how much water he is drinking. Sonya

| Yes there are alot of set backs when a new dog comes in the house but that is normal..Reece was trained when Soleil came here and then he started marking..it didnt last long though and he was showing Soleil just where to go..I crate trained mine also and they still go in there at night..or sleep with me occasionally too.. Do you have a fenced in yard or do you have to take them out yourself? When they go outside for a pee or poo..give tons of praise and dont do anything when they pee or poo in the house..no words at all...outside when they go either give them a treat for going or lots of praise..dogs love to please and you will be suprised how quickly they want to please mommy!! | I also think you should get an x-pen..it contains them to one area and has more room than a crate..you can put in the doggy bed..pee pads and toys and he wont feel confined like in a cage. When he gets more training he can have more room in the house...we block off certain rooms with baby gates..but an x-pen is the best to start off with!! Dawn |

That is the problem our YARD is wide open and no border or fence so I have to take them out each time one at a time, it is a lot of work. the yorkie does seem to be an abused dog, reminds me of a dog called luna who was abused and came from a shelter. Another thing I noticed is he has not made a sound since he arrived, so I wonder if he is mute? | |

| No its not like a playpen but more of a large open crate...here is a link to a picture of one.. http://www.shopping.com/xPO-Small_An..._Pen_15H_X_19W Our yard wasnt fenced in but we bought some cheap fencing and only fenced off a part of the yard just for the dogs..its great!! | Could you clarify what you meant about a rounded back and tail being a behavioral problem? Peeing every hour is normal for a pup but at about 5 or 6 months I would begin to think a vet visit is necessary. My Yorkie is 6 pounds and her vet said yesterday that she should drink not much more than 1/2 cup a day. She isn't a puppy though.
