| Didn't think it would hurt a dog? Hello??? At three months old, a yorkie is about the same size of a rat! Its POISON! Thank heavens for this rescue for stepping up and helping this little girl!

| This is why I have no sympathy for people wanting to get a Yorkie for next to nothing. If they don't have the money to buy them at regular price, most of the time they don't have the money to get them medical treatment when they need it either. Can you imagine? Asking a vet to euthanize (KILL) a poor little puppy just because the owner was so irresponsible to let them get into rat poison and then wait DAYS to take the poor thing to a vet! I think it should be a law that anyone without at certain amount in savings should have to prove they have purchased pet insurance before they take possession of their puppy! We read this same sort of thing all too often! Can't afford to get them the medical care they deserve so they desert them, ask a vet to kill them, or let a rescue take over their responsibility. At least with the latter the innocent pet gets some care. This burns me up!

| Didn't you know that pets are disposable??? They are not members of your family they are "just" dogs. Makes me soooooo mad

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...-rat-bait.html My adult son had just moved back in for the summer after his first year in college and had a package of rat bait that he had forgotten about and that I didn't know about in the back of his entertainment system. Sometimes companies pack them that way. But regardless, these little bundles of energy will get into anything. It took a long time for me to forgive myself for not puppyproofing enough. I don't blame her for that. I DO blame her if she didn't take her puppy into an ER vet immediately. THAT is neglect. Just FYI.

"Airport Frwy. Emergency Animal Hospital just had an owner bring in his three month old Yorkie that ingested rat poisoning several DAYS ago. Apparently they didn't *think* the rat poison would hurt a dog. Ugh! The owner wanted her to be euthanized because he doesn't have the money to treat her. A call was put out to a local rescue chat list, and within mere minutes, the little tyke was spoken for, a financial commitment was made and the Emergency Clinic was able to begin treatment." So yahh..sounds like she is AT FAULT!!!!

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | This is awful. I only paid 300.00 for my baby but if anything ever happened to him I would get him treatment even if it had to go on a credit card. I got insurance for him the day I brought him home last week. So, it doesnt always mean people are irresponsible if they didnt pay 1000.00 for their dog. Papers are not important to everyone, but that doesnt mean their life is not precious & they wouldnt do everything in their power to save them. 2 years ago I came home from work and my 2 year old Chi was lifeless. I took her to an emergency vet and 900.00 and 12 hours later she was gone. She died of kidney failure. I only paid 200.00 for her. But, I would have paid thousands to save her. I now work from home and my baby is with me every step. I pray he stays healthy, I can't imagine that pain again. |

| I wanted to post an update on this for anyone who has been following....The note below is from the ABTR that has stepped up to care for her. It was posted on the fundable link listed above.... ***UPDATE 6/18: Hi all, I know you are anxiously awaiting news on ZaZa. I talked to Dr. Boone and she says that something in the blood levels is back to normal which is excellent. Sorry I was driving and couldn't hear her real well and don't know if it was the PT or the hematocrit or whatever but whatever it is, it is better than it was and that is GOOD!. Dr. Boone wants to keep the IV fluids going on her for another couple of days as she started ZaZa on Lasix to try and get the blood and fluids down from around her heart and lungs without doing any surgery or poking her with needles trying to drain them, but doesn't want to dehydrate her so wants those fluids going in. She won't have to be stuck again cause the ER VETS left the IV thing in her arm to minimize the number of times she would need to be stuck since she wasn't clotting well. ZaZa still needs to be monitored due to the blood around lungs and heart, but Dr. Boone is very optimistic that she was heading in the right direction and thinks she has turned the corner and is on the road to recovery. She said that ZaZa is feeling lots better today than she was yesterday and is like all puppies wanting to get some love and attention. She will probalby get some xrays and some other kind of test as well to monitor what is going on with her heart and lungs and clotting. Dr. Boone says she is off tomorrow, but she will come in and check on ZaZa a couple of times and call me with an update. There are several other vets and lots of vet techs in the practice so it is not like she is not being monitored when Dr. Boone is not there. But I think Dr. Boone feels that she is the one who started caring for ZaZa so she wants to keep a personal eye on her. That is why I like Dr. Shelly's group, they are very caring about the dogs just like Dr. Cindy. ZaZa will probalby get to come home in 2-3 days maybe if she continues to improve. YEAH!!! Thank you all again for all the wonderful prayers for this little girl. We sure appreciate those prayers and the support you have given us. We recently met the $550 goal we set here on Fundable, but as you can see below, just the first day's worth of e-care hit the $1400 mark, so the costs associated with ZaZa's care have far exceeded the initial $550 goal. In order to continue to care for dogs in need, we're working hard to raise funds to cover ZaZa's expenses and we're so grateful for your help. If you'd like to donate via check or paypal, please see the addresses below. Again, thank you! Paypal: donations@americanbostonterrierrescue.org Snail mail: ABTR, PO Box 1286, Little Elm, TX 75068 |

| I am so happy to see an update and know that this little one is on the way to recovering. As far as her previous owners, yes, they should be prosecuted for neglect. Not because of the pup getting into rat poison(accident's happen) but because they did not seek medical care immediately. What else can you say regarding stories like this. It's just so upsetting reading about stupid, irresponsible, non caring human beings. |

| I just keep checking on this little girl I am hoping she pulls through and has a loyal fanbase with a warm, loving home waiting for her when she gets better. She needs nothing less than to be treated like the princess she for the rest of her life! |
