This is why I have no sympathy for people wanting to get a Yorkie for next to nothing. If they don't have the money to buy them at regular price, most of the time they don't have the money to get them medical treatment when they need it either. Can you imagine? Asking a vet to euthanize (KILL) a poor little puppy just because the owner was so irresponsible to let them get into rat poison and then wait DAYS to take the poor thing to a vet!
I think it should be a law that anyone without at certain amount in savings should have to prove they have purchased pet insurance before they take possession of their puppy! We read this same sort of thing all too often! Can't afford to get them the medical care they deserve so they desert them, ask a vet to kill them, or let a rescue take over their responsibility. At least with the latter the innocent pet gets some care.
