| I don't know about being too small for xrays, sounds as if they wanted to go home too. I would see if there is an emergency clinic nearby and take him there.

It sounds like this puppy is in bad shape. Is there an emergency vet clinic in the area they could take him to asap? I am shocked that the one vet would not take some x-rays to at least rule out any broken bones or a ruptured diaphragm. I will be praying for the little guy. Please keep us updated.

| I would find a vet who would actually see him tonight! I have never heard of a puppy being too small for x-ray. He is obviously in pain because of the crying. I hope he will be OK. Please keep us updated!

| Oh how frightening! I've never heard of a vet refusing to do x-rays because a dog is too small I would definitely get to an ER clinic. Saying a prayer for all of you!

| just talked to grandparents who were at the vet with him. They said the vet was very thorough. He said his lungs sounded good and his heart sounded good and his tongue was pink which was good. He said he was probably in shock and tonight is very critical to keep him warm. They have him in a box with hot water bottles with a blanket over the box to keep the heat in. The vet wants to see him in the morning. The vet said it would of been difficult to tell about internal bleeding.....he felt the xrays would not show much. I am confused but it was a vet hospital. I am surprised they did not do more. Grandpa said he thought he barely stepped on him and was not sure what part of him his foot came down on. He is so tiny !!! 1 pound. My son , Nick said there was blood coming from his nose and mouth and he was not breathing. Nick did mouth to mouth and sucked the blood out somewhat and he started breathing and they rushed him to the 1st vet then the 2nd. I still wonder if they should go to another vet. I am not clear on if this was a true emergeny hospital or just called a "vet hospital" !!! I still would appreciate knowledge or opinions. I trust all of you and have always learned so much. They just got him wednesday and are truly in love with him... we all are!!! Grandma and Nick were playing with him (Carter) on the floor and grandpa got up to go to the bathroom.... he ran after him and got under his foot/step... grandpa did not know he was near him.... they are devasted!! |

| I'm adding Grandpa to my prayers too - he doesn't need to feel guilty for this tragic accident I would think that if this had been an ER Vet they would have kept Carter overnight to observe him. I'm not sure why the vet they saw would have sent them home - most likely so Carter would have around the clock attn. Do you know if the vet thought there could be internal bleeding? I just think a second opinion would not hurt, because if the vet they saw wasn't going to do x-rays tonight, he probably isn't going to do them tomorrow either

| I am sorry but this is ridiculous. That puppy needs to get to an er vet asap. With him being one pound and in shock is a recipe for disaster. He is extremely likely to go into a hypoglycemic attack and needs to be monitored by a veterinarian around the clock tonight. Please, please, please take him to an all hours vet clinic. The vet that sent him home is a moron. If he couldn't deal with the puppy tonight, he sure as hell should have referred them to someone that would. Please keep us updated, I am sorry your family is having to go through this.

| just spoke to my son again.... the breeder is on her way over. The puppy is not crying as much - they are keeping him very warm. My Son has calmed down some and gave me more details.... After he was stepped on - nick picked him up and he was not breathing with blood coming from the mouth and nose and his little head just flopped over!!!!! Nick could not feel his heart. That is when he tried mouth to mouth and that seemed to clear his airway. They think it was mostly his head and neck that was stepped on. Grandpas foot did not come all the way down on him - he thought just barely. The first vet they went to the receptionist was taking out the trash and ran inside with them to get the doctor - she (vet) refused to even look at him cause she was closed!!!! She went in the back to make phone calls to see the closest place open....While the puppy seemed to have a seizure and started foaming at the mouth. the receptionist told them they should just hurry and leave to get him somewhere else cause the doctor was taking too long... so grandpa stormed back through the door and asked the vet what was going on and she mumbled she found a place closed but would wait for them but it would be a 25.00 charge for after hours!!!! Can you believe this vet!!!! They were so angry!!!! The second place was not a hospital but a vet. he said the lungs were clear and heart sounded good- and could not feel any broken bones. This vet said they could take him to an er and they could take xrays and do a cat scan but whatever they may find would be info only because there wont be anything they can really do and once he comes out of shock and makes it through the night they can determine what the injuries may be..... does that make sense? Please pray for this sweet little baby!!!!! |

| I am very sorry about this tragic accident . A 1lb puppy is extremely delicate and tiny. This sounds very serious and I hope this little one will pull through. I would think the next 24 hrs is the most critical. I had A sick Yorkie who is just getting over it. The vet told me if she was extrmely ill they had a round the clock emergency hospital they would transfer her to. Isn't there one in your area? this little one needs 24 hr round the clock care. With not breathing, and bleed ing like that she could have A head injury or anything . I agree with the other posters that she needs care NOW.
