| Help....Online web sites More websites needed where I can get housewares, home deco etc at reasonable prices...I'm on a very tight budget for about 6 months...I put my WHOLE savings in to this house buying thing and I am literally starting with next to nothing... What are your favorite sites? P.s. I put 20 bucks in a 2for1 raffle at work to win $1000 at Kmart/Sears...I won 2nd prize for $100 dollars at a flowershoppe....UGGGHHHHH....hope they come in a vase!

| If you don't 'have' to have new things yard sales, estate sales and auctions are a great way to go. |

| It's not an online site, but I wanted to tell you about a great find! If you have a Hobby Lobby near by, I went in last week and they had these beautiful vases for like 80% off. They where originally 29.99 each so I bought 3 and think I paid like 5.99 each. I'm going back to see what else they have .

| I've gotten a couple of things from Overstock.com. Also, if you have one near you, Home Goods is a great place to find home deco kind of things for not a lot of money. If your are into the scandanavian/modern look, Ikea has really cool things for the home now.

| I was at a friends new condo yesterday and the furniture she bought through Craigs list was amazing, used but hardly and designer stuff at very low prices, for nick nacks try Home Goods, TJ Max and Marshalls, even Big Lots and if you live in an area where they have those big discount furniture stores, we have Art Van they have sales where for two years you pay no interest and even get free flat screens with a room purchase and they have some smoking deals on pretty nice stuff

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Oh yes Homegoods , TJ maxx and Marshall's is the way to go. And Ikea great buys, and if you check in their clearance center you can get an even better buy. Or also go to thrift stores and garage sales. You really can find great buys. |

| I've actually seen some pretty sweet new-looking furniture at thrift stores, Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. You have to keep looking every couple of days, but there are some nice deals to be had at those places, and it's fun to look anyway. I also agree with HomeGoods, they have nice, upscale looking things for very reasonable prices

We have Marshall's here and Big Lots. Marshalls is kind of pricey here but I will recheck them out. We don't have Ikea, Home Goods, or Hobby Lobby.. I've been Art Van all day! This weekend I am going to hit the thrift stores and consignment shops. I have to get a new bed first and foremost! I am so not good at sleeping on a couch! I'm trying to figure out what my style is now, I like the painted furniture or the shabby chic look but wonder if I would soon bore of it? I wonder if I should stick to the more traditional woods etc.,

| I did shabby chic for a while in my bedroom & very soon tired of it. Unless you are a person who like a lot of stuff around all the time, I would stay with a less cluttered look and furniture that can handle more than one "look". But I sure loved my shabby chic when I first did it. Can't believe I changed so! But it sure is fun to "do" a room in the sc look. I may do a spare bedroom again in it just for the fun of shopping for the things and then the arranging and doing of the look. What fun that was.

| I love hobby lobby, kirklands, pier1, and ballards. I don't think pier 1 has online ordering but they do have good clearance and in store member program that earns points. I also like gordmans if you have one of them.

| I used to love Bombay Company at the malls! Their stuff was cheap junk but I loved the "look" of it.

| Estate sales!......much better than garage sales down here....you can get magnificent stuff for pennies on the dollar...also check out Aaron Rents Furniture....or whatever you have up there that rents furniture....they sell the furniture that has been rented out for long periods of time, or furniture that is worn. After my divorce, when I walked away without a dime in my purse or bank account, that is where I got a dining room set...the table was in great shape, and the chairs only needed reupholstering.....SOOOOOO SIMPLE!!!!......I polished the table with Olde English Scratch Cover, and it looked like very well kept furniture! It was dirt cheap! I also got 4 bar stools that I have to this day!!!! Anna's Linens for shower curtains, shower rods, shower curtain rings,....But CAUTION!! I bought some really pretty towels from there, and they came apart after 3 washes....I have towels I bought at JC Penny when I got married in 1970...they are a little thread bare, but by golly, they look better than those raggedy! So be careful buying cheap towels....it is tough to beat Home Depot or Lowes for garbage cans, shelving, storage cabinets.....scope out scratch and dent appliances....Shower curtains are less expensive that drapes, and can be used very effectively in your windows! 1" dow rods are cheaper than curtain rods, and you can buy fenials to go on the end. Curtain rings are cheaper than curtain rings....For art work for your walls....a pretty patterned wall paper, either a scene or a design that appeals to you, can be mounted on poster board and framed.....I got wall paper that had all kinds of pretty colored salt water fish....I pit a frame around the fish that I liked, drew a line around the inside of the frame and cut the fish out...5 different fish, different sizes and some square, some square, and grouped them together in my bathroom which I did in a beach motif....underwater scene puzzle that my son put together and I coated it with Elmers white glue, glued it to poster board and framed it...sea shells from the beach are cheap! Put them is a really great sale priced vase from Hobby Lobby or Michaels....just some ideas.....when YOU decide what YOU want to decorate in, let us know! We can help!! |
