Default Where were you on 9/11?

My wife was down in Phoenix on Business and could not make it home for another week. I was home, got up a bit late, turned on the news, and thought I was watching some Action Movie. Took a bit to sink in that it was the real thing. Now someone wants to build a ......near the site. I will not even get started.

Default me too

I was going for some breakfast at the hospital, someone said, "did you hear a plane hit the building?" We ran to a TV. I was standing there when the 2nd one hit and my heart sank. I knew then how my parents felt when they heard of Pearl Harbor. But I saw it with my own eyes.
One of the Doctors on staff lost a nephew at the Pentagon. 26 yrs.

I was at work in a nursing home as an R.N. Was helping the C.N.A.s feeding residents when one resident who was always glued to the television started yelling and crying. Everyone in the room looked at the television and saw that dreaded smoke cloud coming from the first tower and we watched in horror as the second one hit. I will always remember that day and the faces of those veterans and older ladies tears streaming down their faces.

I am watching the ground Zero memorial now. Glad we can take time to remember. We sometimes forget what is important, but then again, everyone has their own thoughts and experiences.

I was at work in an elementary school lunchroom and we happen to have a very large screen TV and we were able to watch everything. My husband was in the Richard Russell Federal building in Atlanta, Georgia, they were immediately on lockdown. He did not arrive home until late that night. No cell phone calls were allowed.

This is really going to show my young age! I was in 6th grade, or maybe 7th. We were in the media center, in the computer lab. They hadn't told any of us kids what was going on. A teacher came out and told someone their mom was there to pick them up from early dismissal. Then another. Then my mom. I was like, what is going on? When I got to the front of the school, all of these parents were there, and some were crying. My mom was like, "Brittany, these people are dropping bombs in NYC" or something, because at that point, I remember some rumors were that was what had happened, they had dropped them from the plane or something. Anyways, I just remember being terrified, especially when it hit so close to home (DC- Pentagon).

I was sitting in my living room. The little boy from across the street ran across to our house and told us what happened. We turned on the news and saw what happened. I remember we were in shock.

We will always remember where we were on this traggic day. I was in the office and heard a co-worker say "OMG...a plane hit one of the twin towers." I was in shock. A gut feeling told me this was no accident. I pulled cnn.com and then watched in horror and disbelief as the 2nd plane hit. I immediately called my husband to tell him I loved him and to tell him what had just happened. Minutes later my manager walked around and told everyone to take the rest of the day off and to go be with our families. I rushed out the door to pick up my daughter from daycare and then ran home to rejoin my husband who has also left work. We spent the entire day at home together. Our hearts ached then for those that died and their families and still does today when we remember this tragic event that should never have occured.
I am saying prayers today for all those that have passed from this tragic event and their families....

We lived on the coast of Texas and I remember fighter jets patrolling-they passed overhead about every 30-45 minutes. I remember feeling like the world had tilted on it's axis that day
My thoughts and condolances are with all the families who lost someone and a big Thank You to all who serve or have served this country!

I was still living in Germany. A friend came by and asked: "Did you see the pictures from New York"? First I thought she was there on vacation and wanted to show me pics. Then she explained, I turned the tv on and couldn't believe it; I still have the images in my head.
My heart goes out to the victims and their families, the fire fighters, police and army forces.

I was on my way back home because I forgot the pool guy was coming to close up the pool when I heard it on the radio. When I finally got home, I told my son to put on the TV only to then remember ........... Joanne ..........Joanne works there - OMG!!! Calling my daughter at college - she tells me - "Mom Jamie's brother Kevin is missing too". We hear Mrs. Brennan's son the firefighter is also missing, and Nick's nephew too. I lost so many that day and our lives have never been the same since.

Joanne my thoughts are always always with you. I miss you so much. RIP

I was home watching the news and suddenly there was breaking news. My heart was in my throat seeing the first tower burning and then when the second one got hit live on TV I was like "what the heck?" When the Pentagon got hit I just fell apart not knowing what was happening. Then I went over to my Mom's home to be with her.

I will never forget this day and all of the heart break of people looking for their loved ones. It was and still is too sad. God bless all those who were lost that day and those who continue to lose their lives and have many health problems. Amen

I was at home. I was recovering from gallbladder surgery and I was on pain medication. I was in bed and turned the tv on and the first tower had just been hit like a couple of minutes before. I remember thinking I was dreaming or the drugs were playing tricks on me. It was so strange.
My boss called a few hours later to let me know they were closing the facility for the day. Our headquarters are in NYC and they basically closed all of our facilities everywhere!
I was glued to the tv since I was bedridden anyway for days.
I went to NYC for the first time four years ago and I think my friend and I were about a block or so from Ground Zero and I couldn't really see anything yet, but I just started crying and there were so many people there and everyone was crying and silent. It was the day after a memorial of the fireman's wall. It's something I will never forget my entire life. Seeing things on tv and then seeing the site and the magnitude of the size of it all is overwhelming!

My heart goes out to everyone who lost a loved one that horrid day. I was home and I just put on the TV. I actually saw the second tower go down. Something I will never forget. I knew my kids were safe at school, so I left them there. Suddenly I hear about the Pentagon. I was scared and I remember thinking that we are being attacked. Where will they attack next???? I knew my kids would know someone that lost a mom or dad that terrible day.

I just think of those police men and fire fighters that ran in there to help. My God!!! What a terrible shame.

I don't think anyone will ever forget that day. I was at work and we started hearing about it on the radio. We kept up with it by radio and news sites on the web. I went home for lunch and saw the second tower go down. The towers, along with the Pentagon and the plane in Pennsylvania was just shocking.

On a side note, 9/11 is my youngest son's, and also my step-daughter's birthday, so we focus on that, but can never forget the loss of all those souls on that day.

Side note #2: Last month was the 41st anniversary of Hurricane Camille and the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. There were memorial services here on those days honoring the hundreds that perished in those storms. We'll never forget those days or those that were lost but most here feel the best way to honor the dead is to rebuild, carry on and live life well.
