| anyone else with blood sugar issues? Hi I used to post here frequently and then got sick and stepped back for a while from a lot of things...including this The reason I was sick is because I have a blood sugar disorder (I've had it for a while, it just all at once flared up quite severely) where I make too much insulin and causes drastic drops in blood sugar levels. I was having an awful time with it for a while now...you could probably measure the length of time in months so in between doctors appointments, nutritionists, class, work, feeling crappy, paying bills (ambulance bills = $$$$$$$!), I just didn't have time...by the time I had a chance to sit back and relax...all I wanted to do was just curl under the covers. Now, it's all under control...I have to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the same time every day and it has to have specific amounts of sugars, carbs and protein. I have to exercise a certain time each day (only after I have a snack with carbs to keep my sugar levels up while exercising). Anyone else a diabetic or have a blood sugar issue and can sympathize with me? Work is being a particular pain trying to enforce a "no eating" rule...when I am there during lunch...and missing lunch is not a good idea for me. I have to sport the medical ID bracelet...but luckily I found laurenshope.com where I can get ones that look somewhat cute instead of the typical boring metal one Just wondering if there are any other diabetic or people with blood sugar problems that can sympathize. Some days I just want to be able to sit and eat a piece of chocolate cake and not worry about my sugar levels rising then dropping rapidly. Eating cake without worries would be pretty amazing

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Well, first I'm glad you're back and that you're getting on the right track. I don't have diabetes but know my fair share of diabetics since my bach. degree was in nursing. So, my heart really goes out to you. Diabetes is different for everyone and I know it can really be tough to manage - especially at first. I think there might be some folks on YT who also have it, but I can't recall for sure. If not, have you thought about support groups or anything? Sometimes that can be helpful - just to talk to people who are going through the exact same things you are. If not, just know we're here for you - even if you just want to vent or complain about chocolate cake.

| my mom had very high blood sugar. she takes prednisone for another illness she has and that tends to make her run really high 500-600 sometimes. we are trying to get her ready for a back surgery next week and they wont do it if she is running high that day so we have been trying to get it under control till she has the surgery. she is in alot of pain and i know that can cause it to be elevated but she has a hard time watching her diet also, she loves her chocolate. she has been on the prednisone for almost 6 yrs now and probably will never get off of it. she keeps hopeing someday she will be able to stop taking the injection's and just take the pills but i dont see that happening. Glad to hear you are finally getting yours under control.

| I dont have blood sugar issues, but I have been sick for 2 years. No doctor has ever figured out what was wrong with me. I started a gluten free diet out of curiosity about 4 days ago and am showing improvements! I need to get some allergy tests from the doctor though.

| i have heard of pre diabetic. they originally said i was reactive hypoglycemic which is a precursor to diabetes but when they ran tests and such they found out I had insulinomas (tumors that produce more insulin). Never ever had a high blood sugar reading. My normal is around 80 on a good day glad to know there's others out there with issues like this...well not "glad"...eh you know what I mean

| I've always have very very low blood sugar. I've had fainting spells my whole life, starting when I was 6 years old and I passed out on stage at my school's Christmas concert! Talk about embarassing for a little girl who was too shy to even speak in front of a teacher! Anyways, nobody ever really did anything about it. I didn't really see doctors at all. When I was in college I passed out in a Chemistry lab and they had to call 911 and I got taken to a hospital by ambulance. After 4 hours in the waiting room I had a doctor look at me for 5 minutes and ask if I have an eating disorder (nope) and told me I just need to eat more So I went and saw another doctor who told me I have a touchy system and as soon as something is a little out of the ordinary (standing too long, just a little too hot, too nervous, blood sugar too low) my brain doesn't know what to do so it just shuts down, my blood pressure plummets, and I'm out! So that's my story. I don't really do much for it. My aunt who is a nurse told me to eat a bunch of small meals throughout the day, so I usually keep my purse stashed with granola bars.

| I'm diabetic and am on pills. I can totally relate to how hard it is to try and keep under control. It's a lot of work keeping track of your numbers and what you eat and when. But, if we want to live a longer, healthier life we have to do it.

Another problem I had for a while was driving. I would drive and not notice the simplest symptoms right away and would keep going until I had no choice but to pull over. I was found by cops a couple times either because they saw a car with their lights on in a parking lot somewhere at night, or they pulled me over. Now my car is stocked with crackers, juice, glucose gel and glucose tablets. I bought one of those organizers you can put on the back of the front passenger seat, but instead of books that's where I put the crackers, glucose supplies, etc. And now I make sure to check my sugar before every single time I drive. And if I notice the slightest symptom, I pull over where I can. Luckily, that hasn't happened in a LONG time!
