my mom had very high blood sugar. she takes prednisone for another illness she has and that tends to make her run really high 500-600 sometimes. we are trying to get her ready for a back surgery next week and they wont do it if she is running high that day so we have been trying to get it under control till she has the surgery. she is in alot of pain and i know that can cause it to be elevated but she has a hard time watching her diet also, she loves her chocolate. she has been on the prednisone for almost 6 yrs now and probably will never get off of it. she keeps hopeing someday she will be able to stop taking the injection's and just take the pills but i dont see that happening.
