| Im annoyed...ok im MAD and just want to vent I have never had a dog before, but wanted one since I was 5. I FINALLY got Buster almost 3 months ago..and L O V E him. He is the cutest dog in the world, and even when he does something naughty I cant help but laugh and kiss him. Hes a male yorkie...5 months old. What made me SOOO mad was, the other day I was in Petco and this woman cmae up to me. I was holding Buster and she was holding her own Yorkie. She asked me how old he was and when I said 5 months she flipped! She couldnt believe how "big" he was for 5 months!!!! She acted like he was huge! Buster weighs 5-6 pounds (if that much) which I think is healthy...and so does my vet. Meanwhile her yorkied was 4 months and could have fit into my pocket! Now I have NOTHING against the "teacup" yorkies - but how DARE you say ANYTHING about my dog - when yours looks so small and sickly. Once again - i dont want to offend anyone -what ever type of dog you like is what you like. Im just so annoyed that people have the audacity to comment on something they know nothing about! Am I wrong to have been made about this???? Or am I just an over protective mom? |

No Longer a Member | The world is full of people whose insecurity causes them to put others down in an attempt to elevate themselves in their own minds. This girl is no different. Don't burden yourself with her selfish insecurity for another minute. Love your boy, and don't let some fool try and take away any of the pleasure you get out of having him. OK? |

| My little boy is larger for "our" breed too, and I HATE it when I get comments about it. I totally understand that you would be upset, in fact I probably would have slugged the woman. People are just DUMB! I think the little ones are cute, but that doesn't mean our hefty boys aren't cute too! I've been accused of lying about Beau being pure bred just because he is 13 pounds, now that makes me STEAM! I totally understand; just ignore her. If your baby gets as big or bigger than mine, you'll probably be hearing a lot of rude nasty comments like that! She probably doesn't know one thing about yorkies.

| I don't think you're wrong at all. But i'm sensitive to such issues. I've never had anyone say anything about the size of my dog, but i've had such things said to me my whole life. I'm 25, 5'4" and about 90 lbs. i've had complete strangers say the most hateful things to my face my entire life. I'm constantly made fun of in the building I work at and i'm finally to the point where I stick up for myself. I eat more than most men I know and i'm 100% healthy, except for a few autoimmune diseases, which actually make me incredibly healthy. If I were in your shoes I would have said, "thank you but my "healthy" dog is none of your concern." Ok, so maybe I would not have been so nice, haha, but that was the clean version. In any case, don't take offense to that woman, your dog is perfect, it was her insecurities about herself or her dog that led to her statement. People are amazing, but what can be even more amazing sometimes is how cruel some are.

| People need 2 keep their..... People need to learn to keep their comments to themselves. I don't think you're wrong at all. It's ashame that some people use their dogs as a fashion statement and worry so much about their size, weight, etc.... All they really need is love and good treatment!!! Take it easy and don't let anyone disturb you like that

| I always think of a great comeback for rude people. Unfortunately I am home fuming on my couch when it comes to me. I dont know what compels people to criticize others right to their face. I had gastric bypass surgery many yrs ago. When I was heavy, people would make comments about my weight right to my face. So I guess I shouldnt be surprised that people would comment on a dogs weight.

| That stinks! Amazing how insensitive people can be! I am so sorry you had to listen to that lady. Bella is almost 12 weeks and almost 3 lbs. A lady at Petsmart couldn't believe how young she was and said she thought that's how big Yorkies were full-grown. I got all defensive and launched into my tea cup speech. Wish I could say to just blow the comments off, but I couldn't when it happened to me! Good thing we have YT to vent! I told my husband my story and he didn't even see what the big deal was!! I can totally relate to your feelings!

I have gotten to the point that I just roll my eyes and walk away form those sort---I use to smile and nod and wait for them to be done, but I finally realised I don't owe them my time-----happens nearly every time I'm in PetCo-----starnge really. Milo is 6 pounds and 10 months------but he has long legs so gives the impression of being much bigger to some I guess. Both my cats are double his size------ | |

| Next time inform one of those rude people that the number one yorkie in the country weighs 6.5 pounds. These are yorkies, not rats. They are terriers and should be strong and bold while being elegant and beautiful. She can have her little rat, I prefer a dog.

| I hate it when people do that. I know exactly how you feel. I get the same reaction with Prince. He's almost 9 months now and 7 lbs. I've had the exact same thing happen. I has Prince and another lady came up with her tiny Yorkie who was older than my pup. She flipped when I told her how old he was, telling me that he probably had silky mixed with him and that he wasn't a purebred Yorkie. I *polietly* reminded her that the "standard" (note that it's in quotes) size for a Yorkie is 7 lbs, and that Prince wasn't "big" he was standard....hers was just small. I let her know that he was indeed purebred and that she should think before she opens her mouth. I know it was mean, but I was pissed. All his life I've had people telling me that he was too big, and it used to really upset me. It still does sometimes now. I think at 5 months he was about 5 or 6 lbs, but now at 9 months, I don't think he's getting any bigger, and I love him. |
