| Venting On thursday I took Coco to get spayed. They told me everything went fine and I brought her home the next day. She seemed ok but she was shaking a lot, I'm assuming just because she was scared. It came out to $250 because I also got her microchipped. That was ok and I spent the money I had for it. Then I notice the cut getting really red so I took her to the vet today to make sure everything was ok. The vet told me I had to leave her again because the cut opened up and they needed to reclose it. When I put Coco down on the counter she started crying because she did want to go with them and she even peed! Then I started to cry because I felt so bad for her and didn't want 2 leave her. Then I asked about the price and they told me it would be another $150! I know that's not a lot of money but I don't have that right now so I couldn't leave her. I mean shouldn't that be considered a follow up or something? They never even put a bandage on her cut or anything. I don't know what to do? I don't want her to be in pain or for her cut to get infected. Can I put butterfly stitches? or will that not work? I'm so confuse, please give me some advice if you have any. |

| I Dont Think You Should Have To Pay More!! Thats A Joke!! Stand Up For Yourself And Tell Them, It Seems Like They Did A Half @$$ Job If Her Cut Opened Up Right Away!! |

I Love Thor Donating Member | Oh man! Poor little girl. I think they could have done something considering that things shouldn't always be about the money. If it's red around the incision, then it may be infected. I don't know what you can do. I would call around to different vets and tell them your situation (just got her spayed, it ripped, and you're hoping they can help you for less money). I hope someone here has better advice! Please keep us updated. Sorry your vets seemed to be a jerk! |

| if i were you right now i'd put a cotton swab over it (that's what layla came home with) and a bandaid over that or surgical tape.. until you can get her in somwhere.. layla didnt' come home with meds... so just keep her very still and quiet until you can get her in somewhere |

| It opened really fast! The next day I already started noticing the redness, but thought it was normal and then I couldn't take it anymore and finally took her 2 the vet. |

I Love Thor Donating Member | Both Thor and Harry came home with pain killers and antibiotics (preventative). I think they should come home with something. Maybe you should call back and demand something more from them. Tell them they've really let you and your pet down. |

| i don't think they are "supposed" to... our vet didn't give her any because he wanted her to be aware that she needed to move slowly.. he was afraid that if she wasn't sore she'd be jumping around and would tear back open. .she was fine.. was probably sore for two days.. but then was back to normal! keep us posted |

| Your story is pathetic! What the heck is wrong with that vet? Of course, it should be considered follow-up. This wouldn't have happened if not for the surgery! I feel so bad for you and Coco. Maybe you could call the person who owns the clinic..or someone higher up? I can't believe they would send Coco home when she's in need of medical attention. I also think it sucks that she didn't get any meds home with her after her spay...poor baby. Get well kisses from Maddie and I!

| I agree with the other members - call the clinic. I would express my disappointment with the extra charges and ask that they reconsider and look at her immediately. If they won't do it - call another clinic! My vet never charges for follow up procedures. Anytime a spay or neuter comes back for stitch removal we do it for free. Keep us posted - sending healing thoughts your way

| That is so awful. Even if they absolutely have to charge you it shouldn't be 150 dollars. I also think you should talk to them about it. If they say no, could you possibly take Coco to humane society's vet or some other place where they would offer a reasonable price? It cost us about 150 to get Mia spayed. That's ridiculous. 20-40, I could understand--if it wasn't their fault to begin with. Poor baby. I hope she will heal soon.

| Is it an OPEN incision or is it just red? If it's just red, put some neosporin on it and put the cotton and gauze back on until tomorrow. If it is an open wound, girl, I have no idea! Poor baby! I would definately go back tomorrow and demand that they treat her for little or no charge. |
