| Estimated Adult yorkie's size I am going to look at a 4 month old male yorkie tomorrow who weighs 4 lbs now. How much more do they usually grow after 4 months? The breeder also has an 8 week old male that weighs 1.4 lbs. Anyone know which one might turn out smaller? |

| Estimated Adult Weight I am going to look at a couple of puppies tomorrow and was curious about their estimated adult weight. Both puppies are male which is my preference. One is 4 months old and weighs 4 lbs and the other one is 8 weeks old and weighs 1.4 lbs. Do you think the 4 month old will stay under 5 lbs?? I thought puppies would grow a lot more after 4 months. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Just in my experience with Cali, she weighed 1 lb at 10 weeks and now at 8 1/2 weeks she weighs 4 1/4 lb. She is fine boned. Her parents both weighed 5 lbs but she was the runt of the litter, but I think has gotten to be a good size from being so little at 10 weeks. A lot depends on the parents size. i would guesstimate that the 4 month old may grow to be 5-7 Lbs and the baby to 5-6 lbs. These are good weights. The tiny ones can have more health issues. Make sure that you check for any health problems like Liver shunt, LP etc. Good luck let us know what you decide

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Estimated Adult Yorkie's Size My male at 16 weeks weighed 4 lbs. The vet said he should be about 6-7 lbs fully grown...unless I over feed him...lol. I agree that the smaller one will be much smaller. They are so loveable no matter what size they are though. Good luck with your decision.

| Jersey weighed a little over one pound when we got her and she was very young maybe 8 weeks, she will be one year old in May and still weighs under 3 pounds.

| We got Baxter at 12 weeks and he weighed 4 lbs. He is now 15 months and weighs 12 lbs. (he isn't fat) We knew he would be large because he was big boned for a yorkie puppy. It sounds like the 8 week old may be smaller. Baxter grew in leaps and bounds until he was about 10 mos. old. Good luck and have fun!

| The little one should have the lighter adult weight. But go for the personality! If the 4 month old is awesome take him! He will have a much harder time finding a home... is she asking less for him if so ask why, also ask why she still has this pup. He may have been returned or she may have been holding him back, she may not have been able to sell him. Who knows. If he is 4 months, he should have all of his vac's, be sure to ask. She should have stayed on top of them! I would be concerned if she has not. But if your main focus is size, the little guy is going to be smaller. I would truse your gut! You'll know when you get there.

| These little boogers just love to fool us. I never tell a person how much a Yorkie might weigh as adult except for the "they should stay withing the standard of 7 lbs!".. The bigger they are, the more there is to love but I understand when someone has specific needs. For instance, one of my retired girls went to live with a handicapped woman who could not lift more than 5-7 lbs so a smaller dog was necessary. They had rescued a Bichon mix that grew to 17 pounds and she could not pick him up to sit in her lap.. |

| I think the older one will be around 6 to 7 pounds. I think the younger puppy will be smaller at just under 6 pounds. Sometimes a Yorkie can look smaller and still weigh more depending on their bone structure. I don't think there will be enough of a difference to matter. I would go with the personality and the 4 month old should already have his puppy shots and probably is a better price. A vet can also do a more thorough exam on the older puppy, at 8 weeks some problems might now show up. The majority of people want females around 5 pounds so I think you probably have some bargaining room, especially with the older one. Good luck. |

| If you like this breeder and find her to be reputable, get the smaller one if small is what you want. The main thing is the breeder and the quality and health of the pups. I am always suspicious of anyone that has that many puppies available at once. Two litters is a lot of work. If something doesn't feel right, don't buy either one. |

| I think they usually grow until about 1 years of age. Stomper was 3 pounds at 8 weeks. The vet breeder told me he would be 7-8 pounds and the vet said 10-12 pounds. He is 17.6 pounds!
