We got Baxter at 12 weeks and he weighed 4 lbs. He is now 15 months and weighs 12 lbs. (he isn't fat) We knew he would be large because he was big boned for a yorkie puppy. It sounds like the 8 week old may be smaller. Baxter grew in leaps and bounds until he was about 10 mos. old. Good luck and have fun!
