| Needing Advice I'm new to this site, and I wasn't quite sure which forum would be best to post this under. I have a 2 year old male yorkie who has been a fabulous dog for me up until this past month. He's potty trained never has accidents in my house, however last month I moved in with my fiance and he's started having accidents and they just keep getting more and more. I've taken him to the vet worried it may be a bladder infection or uti. The vet said he seemed just fine but gave him medicine for a uti just in case it was that. He will not poop in the house only pee and its never in the same spot.. usually in the same area but sometimes he finds other spots. My fiance has no pets and I wandered if he may be doing it for my attention or jealously that he's now not the constant center of my attention. I dont want to get rid of him even the thought of it makes me sad.. but I can't continue to let him have accidents as often as he is.. Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas as to what I can do to try and stop it?? |

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | there may be old pet smells even if you boyfriend never had animals maybe the previous owner (renter did) I would get a belly band for when you do not watch him close. You could buy a xpen and put him in it when you can not watch him. And start all over with the potty training. He could be jealous but I would guess he is smelling something he thinks he needs to mark

| Thank you, yes he just had the house built so is the first one to live there. I usually do catch him in his act and immediately say no and take him outside. I will give the belly band a try and see what I can do! |

| Changing homes is often traumatic for small dogs. Their whole world has changed. Now that you've moved in with someone, you will need to retrain him in where to go out and take him out on a regular schedule. Try treats so that he feels very special and knows he's done well after going outside. I also wonder if he has been neutered?

| You do need to retrain him. If you can't get him an X pen then attach a leash to him and keep it attached to you all the time. Take him out more often than before and don't let him out of your sight. We are responsible for how our dogs act. If he is doing something he is not supposed to it is up to you to communicate to him what the right thing to do is. Being consistent is the key. He will go back to being consistently right but it's up to you to train him diligently. |

| Yes he is neutered, and yes I watch him as I usually do catch him in the act. At first it seemed he was afraid so he would run go potty and come back with his tail down knowing he did wrong and I would find it. It seems now though he will just potty right in front of me when we're playing fetch like he can't hold it when he was just outside 5-10 minutes ago. |

| Ummmm Had a similar problem once. In the days prior to our marriage my fiance and I moved some of my clothes down to his guest room closet. We would be living in his house and selling mine. My DH noticed his dog Shorty (mutt) who was house trained and had been for several years would pee in front of the guest room closet. After our wedding this continued even though we were walking her several times a day. She continue and he even caught her backing up to my shoes in our walk-in closet and peeing. The only thing we could figure was she was jealous because I took her spot on the couch in the beginning and bed after we were marriage. She continue for awhile but stopped finally I guess she figured I wasn't going anywhere. We share my DH for 7 years and we still think of her and miss her.

| Hopefully he stops sooner than later, my fiance is very patient with him as well and is always helping me watch for him to make his next accident. We just can't have him marking all over the house... Do you remember how long it was until she stopped? |

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | I would get the belly bands for sure. If he is going five minutes after being out and has been checked for uti. He is looking for attention good or bad it sounds like. Hopefully he soon will understand this is his new home. Just stay positive you will get him thru this.

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | Do not get ones with elastic. I do not think they are very comfortable for the dogs.. I like the ones without. Just what I have learned.. Good luck

| Dang.. didn't see your post until this morning, yeah I got one with elastic. I didn't see any without. I could always look on line i suppose and find one. Good thing is he didn't have a single accident in the house. He didn't seem as playful though with it on... but maybe he will come around once he's use to it again. |
