| She Bit Someone! I had a new patio door installed today and one of the guys bent over the baby gate Lizzy was barking and growling behind and she bit him! I couldn't believe it. She nailed him! He could have made an issue of it too, as she even broke the skin, but luckily he didn't. She acts like she wants to kill many people, but she really is afraid of most people and wants to be left alone. I usually tell people who come over to ignore her, that she isn't really a "people" dog. I got her when she was nine months old and have taken her everywhere, and have tried very hard to socialize her, but she isn't interested in befriending anyone else. She is a one person dog, period. Just means I have to be even more careful to prevent something like this from happening again. Sheesh! I have a killer yorkie!

| I am worried about Couver doing this some day... He HATES strangers, and barks and growls at them. He couldn't have been a more socialized dog, and yet he just does not like people. I usually just try to keep people away from him and let them pet Khloe because he gets really upset when people try to touch him. I don't have any advice, I just wanted to tell you that you're not alone

| Sammy is the same way. If I am holding him you can't come near me. He's Mommy's protector!! Last week my son picked him up and his girlfriend put her face right up to the dog's face and I saw him wrinkling his nose up. I told her he would nip her and he did right on her nose. He didn't break the skin because he doesn't have front teeth. But she should have listened after I told her three times to move away from him. Anytime I have any workers in the house I hold him or keep him in the kitchen and tell people that he will bite them. He doesn't like people that he doesn't know that well. |

| Isla has always been skittish even as a puppy. She loves me and 2 of my kids but that's it. She really hates young boys who are hyper and crazy. She goes after their ankles and has nipped a couple. I discipline her and don't coddle her when she's unsure as to not 'reward' her behavior. When I'm not around she will reluctantly sit in my husband's lap but as soon as I walk through the door, he's toast. One owner dog! I feel bad cause everyone wants to pet her and thinks she's cute but she wants nothing to do with anyone!

| Maybe she thought he was going to hurt her. That was probably fear biting anyway. She was on her own turf and probably felt threatened.

| i'm soo sorry that this happened- I Know how terribe it is after a yorkie bites a stranger... Toby Hates strangers- women he will completely shun, but if a man comes in toby MUST be locked away... a while back we were getting renovations done and toby was behind two closed doors (he was in the back hall in his bed with that door closed and the kitchen door leading to it- i wasnt taking any chances) but one of the workmen had been in the kitchen (without saying as he had no reason) and didnt close the door, so as my granny came in from the backyard Toby got out and jumped straight for the groin! biting his calf on the way down. thankfully the man was wearing heavy jeans so the skin wasnt broken, but i seriously thought he was going to try and get toby destroyed... IMO (where Toby is concerned) i blame the breeder. he was sold at 6 weeks (for £600 as he had perfect stud potential) with his full registration to a woman with two young kids (one of whom had a dog phobia!) who had him crated in the spare room from approx. 7am to 6pm then from 10pm to 5am... this lady then gave him to my granny at 7months old as the daughter (the 6yr old owner!) couldn't be bothered taking care of him, and her brother 'was mean to him'. so, at 8yrs old Toby has grade 3 lp, a recurred cataract, severe tracheal collapse (since we got him) and is being tested for a thyroid problem... now, theres a responsible breeder for ya! p.s. sorry that i went off on a bit of a rant there!

| Well, I have to admit that Liz doesn't get around too many men, and she could have a greater dislike of them than she does to women. She is pretty much a one person dog, like Isla. She is sweet to my mother when I am gone, but when I get home, forget it, she doesn't want anything to do with my mother. I don't know what her first owners were like, but I do know that Marlene, the woman who owned her before myself, and only had her two or three months, took Lizzy to work with her. I believe Marlene was good to her, just couldn't keep her after having had an accident. I don't think the first owners were that great. I've tried having strangers feed her, taking her everywhere and anywhere, heck I even do agility with her and I have come to the realization that I am not going to get her to change. Thanks for letting me know Liz isn't alone. She is the first dog I've had any kind of aggression issue with and it leaves me at a loss.

| My dh and I rarely have many visitors other than his folks (whom the boys love!) One day out of the blue, dh's cousin stopped by on his way to work. He hadn't been to our house for over two years, so he didn't know we had dogs! Troy and DH had been outside in the garage, and before he left for work came inside to use the bathroom. When Troy came into the sunroom to give me a hug Neo WASN'T HAVING IT!!! Poor Cuz got the "dog cussin' " of his life and very nearly got bit! Neo got hold of his shorts leg and shook it like it was a rat! I was mortified, Troy was scared crapless and Connor took it all in silently. He was in awe of his big brother- defending Mommy from that strange man! Needless to say, we haven't had anyone to "drop by" recently. |

| You are not alone. I have one that loves, loves, loves people. She will literally lick you to death. Then I have the other one.............hates people - even my husband??? Every dog has his own personality. Sometimes it has nothing to do with socialization. Not sure with mine - maybe - maybe not.

| Oh, poor Lizzy. Imagine how terrified she probably was to actually break the skin! Why do people not listen to the queue's a dog is given them. To try to pet her even when she is growling and carrying on??? What was that man thinking??? I am glad he didn't make an issue of it; especially since he was the moron who caused the problem... in my humble opinion of course! Peggy, Monkey & Maddie
