| Hi, New Member: I found a Yorkie! Something crazy happened yesterday. I was on the city bus waiting to get to the terminal so that I could catch the Greyhound to Cleveland. So, halfway through my bus trip, an older man get's on the bus. A yorkie in a pink/green dress hops on behind him http://www.longhaircareforum.com/for...s/lachen70.gif The busdriver is like, "excuse me sir, you can't bring that dog on here" He goes to explain to us (while the bus driver trying to put the dog off) that the dog just started following him, and that its almost been hit 3x since the dog has been following him. So, the bus driver doesn't know what to do.. Make a long story short..I've been wanting a dog like this (been researching and recently been in contacts w/ a local breeder) for about 5 years now. I took a deep breath and said, "I'll take her"..and the bus driver allowed me to keep the dog, long as I could keep it secure in my purse..(sigh in my fave Brahmin bag too) So now I have this dog here. She's been with me for 2 weeks (come this Saturday) I've already taken her to the vet. She had no microchip. I've called all the local shelters, even posted an ad on CL. No one has come forward. I've been wanting a dog like this for quite a long time, and I love her to pieces! I'm still trying to be optimistic that I find her rightful owner(s) though. Thoughts, advice, suggestions appreciated. |

| Well, first off Thank You for saving this little one. All you can do is post flyers, and maybe theirs a way you could check with local vets our animal hospitals, to let someone know you have her. You could also take out an ad in local papers, usually found ads are free or at a reduced price. She obviously has an owner if she had a dress on. Someone is probably frantically looking for her. If you have an idea of where she found this man, I would start in that area. I know that you can get attached to these little ones very easily, but someone is missing their baby. If she was dressed, she is loved and wanted. Please keep trying to find her mommy. |

| Hi and Welcome to YT! Since no one has come forward to claim her all I can say is count your blessings and take very good care of your new baby! If you need any help this is the best Yorkie forum to get it from Perhaps the original owner will find you, but if not... move forward and congratulations! She was so lucky to have found you!

| She definitely has an owner. Try to set up some posters near the bus stop where the man got on the bus with her. She wouldn't have been wearing a dress if someone didn't love her to pieces, and I'm sure she is terribly missed and worried about every day. Thank you for taking care of her while looking for her mommy.

| I agree, she definitely has someone missing her if she was all dolled up like that. Thank goodness she found someone like you who's willing to take care of her while you find her family. This thread may give you some new ideas to help find her owners. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ir-owners.html

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am glad you are keeping her safe until her owner is found. It may be a person who is elderly and does not have access to computers etc. Did you call the local police. I know a lot of people will call the police when a dog goes missing. If the owner is never found at least she has a loving new home.

| Thanks everyone for the responses. I love her very much and we have fun together. That still doesn't mean I've stopped my quest for her owner. What sucks is, the man who got on the bus said that a sheriff was right there to witness (there was almost an accident to keep from hitting the dog) a woman flagging him down, but he kept on driving, I guess I remember where I was on the bus when I found the dog. Sad to say, it didn't seem like the best area (I just moved her) for such a polished yorkie to be wandering lol..but I digress, I'll look into putting up posters anyway! Quote:
I'm going to look into placing a newspaper ad too! It never even occured to me that the owner was older and didn't have internet access. But, I'd hope she'd have at least called the shelters..but no. Quote:

| You need to cover all options to find the owners. She was dressed and I am sure she was the light of someones eyes. Because she was following an older man she may belong to an older couple. It's very hard for the elderly to get out and look for their dog. Please try your best to find her owners it can be heart breaking when someone looses there fur baby just read some of the lost threads... You very well may get a reward as well as a heads up to where a local breeder is from the owners of the dog. Give yourself at least a month long window to find the owners. At that point you should start to buy things for the dog. Like a bed and special bowls. When you post flyers don't mention the dog had the dress on at the time. let that be the identifying factor for the real owners. You may also be asked to send photos to someone who thinks she could be theirs. The owners are much better to judge or gage from a photo then you would be to see an older photo of them. So please don't assume that just because the dogs hair is longer or shorter then any photos posted that it can't be their missing dog. Last but not least have a vet look the dog over check for any signs of spay and other type surgeries she may of had. Get a full check up with blood work and understand that every dog can have health issues even tho they look fine. If you find that the dog has a problem and you can't afford to cover the cost please contact a rescue and tell them the full story about the dog including how you came across her. Beyond that if she's not your forever baby I sure hope you find yours soon. |

| I am confused about your post, did this happen yesterday or two weeks ago? The reason I ask is your posts mentions it happened yesterday but you said you had it two weeks. The reason I am asking is because from the description of her wearing a dresss this is someone's pet and they are probably looking for her. If it happened yesterday they may not have covered as much area as they would have in two weeks. Have you taken her to a vet to see if she is Micro chipped? That would be my first stop. Thank you for keeping her safe and taking care of her. Good luck finding her owners.

| I agree You are a very kind person, an thank you for saving life of this little creature. And yes, I agree, somebody somewhere is probably close to death crying for this little creature. Owner will be looking at the place he/she lost yorkie. And dear yorkie lovers - do you have a microchip in your pets? Is it painful for them to have inserted? | I had a chip put in my little guy. He had it during his neuter. But it goes in thru a needle. larger then some but just a quick stick. Like a bee sting but it could one day bring your fur baby back to you. Totally worth it in my view. |

She said she looks very healthy. The vet knows I found her. She told me to keep searching for the owner, but that if I hear nothing in the next 3-4 weeks to bring her in for a full check-up, which I have no problem doing. The thing is, I'm not even looking for a reward. She is a sweet, fun yorkie that has brought so much light into my life these past few weeks..I can only imagine how her owners are feeling.. Quote:
Within the first 2 days I had her, I had her checked for a microchip and there was none. | ||

| Most times you can tell at that age if they have been spayed or not simply by the size of their tits and vulva. Each time they have a heat cycle, the tits get a tiny bit larger and darker and so does the vulva.
