| OK, Guys, I NEED HELP! Molly has big time regressed with her potty training She did soooo good at first. It was like it only took a few days and she was peeing and pooping on her pads 98% of the time. I should have known it was too good to be true and that I should have kept my big mouth shut instead of bragging on her like I did. Now, she may pee on it 50% of the time, maybe, and poops everywhere EXCEPT on her pee pee pads. I give her treats everytime she does go on them and I try to put her on her pad when I catch her going somewhere else, but most of the time I find it after the fact. Once, I put some poop on the pad for a little bit so she could see it there, but I couldn't stand that, plus I figured that wasn't going to work anyway. At night or when we are not at home, she stays in a playpen. She has a small bed that she sleeps in, a small water/food bowl and a pee pad. She does use it 95% of the time. But what am I going to do about the rest of my house? There is no way I can gate of portions of it because I have large doorways like into my den and kitchen and living rooms and stuff. Plus, it would lock out my three year old! HELP!

| I'm sorry to hear about it. Honestly, I think you are doing good job at potty training and things like this happens. Just have to be more patient and more consistant. Don't slack off on her potty training even if she is doing better. #1 reason for potty training regression is because the owner slacks off on the potty training because their puppies is doing it correctly. Big mistake! As soon as the owner slacks off, the puppy potty training slacks off. So my advice is be very consistant don't slack off on the training(even if you think she got it) Otherwise, you are doing good. Keeping her in the pen while you are away and keep a good eye on her when she is running around the house. |

| I totally feel your pain. Reese hardly ever goes on any of her pads at all. I am really not sure what I am do wrong? She is in a pen during the day and will pee on the pad but then poop somewhere else. Then when I take her out of her pen she just goes and runs somewhere else to go. I try to watch her every move and when I catch her I put her on a pad. But nothing seems to work. I also just bought some of the four paws dropper but she doesn't even attempted to smell it when I put it on a pad. I read another thread where the person put the pad on the deck. I am starting to think that I maybe just have one pad outside our apartment door and one in her pen instead of having them in every room. Maybe I am just confusing her???

| Pee Pads all over the house when I had my first visit with the vet, she told me that it is best to keep one single pee pad, in one area. She said that otherwise the puppy will get confused. At this point we keep a pee pad in her x-pen and take her there whenever she is making the the signs of having to go, she is obviously not consistent yet, but at 9 weeks, who is? also, at this point we don't let her wander around the house too much, and when we do, we watch her very carefully. I read in the Housetraining for Dummies book that you can have your puppy teathered to you when ever she/he is running around, this way you can have a close watch all the time. Make sure to use a harness though, as a collar is not a good idea for your baby. Also, about Reese eliminating off the pee pad. Is it possible that she has already peed on it and refuses to go on a soiled pad. My Kiwi, will only use a pad once. Sounds a little snobby, but i wouldn't want to use a dirty bathroom, why should she? Good luck, I'm sure your baby will figure it out! Last edited by Kiwi's mom; 04-15-2005 at 04:25 AM. |

| Actually she really doesn'tmind reusing the pad. In fact during the day when I am at work she will go on the pad in her pen more than once. As for eliminatingthe number of pads, I have tried to do that and also have tried to confine her more so I can keep a closer watch. She is getting better slowly. I think she just needs some time. Also, I love using the reusable pads b/c I no longer have to pick up the shredded disposable ones. Now I just need to buy a whole lot more of them. In fact now she knows that she will get a treat if she goes on the pad so she makes sure that I am standing near her and squats down her butt and will go a couple of drops on the pad, just to get a treat. It is sort of funny, so I know she knows where she is suppose to go.
