| crate training So I've been trying to potty train my dog to quit doing her business all over my room. At first she liked the pee pads but all of a sudden she stopped using them.Next I got her the dog diapers, again horrible idea. She just keep peeing and pooping on that thing. So now I am trying to crate train her. I hate it. I just want to play with her all day but I know I can't. I take her every hour outside and the times she does her business outside I give her treats. She was doing great until today. I still keep following her schedule and she has now decided that she wants to pee in the crate and lay on her filth! Does anyone have any advice on what I should do?? |

| BUMP! I can't answer this question because Bella never soiled her crate. Would someone else like to take a crack at this? |

| I'm not a vet, nor am I dog expert of any kind, but I think she might be confused. First she was pottying on pee pads, then she had a diaper on and could soil it whenever she had to go, knowing you'd change it. Now she's being crated plus taken outside for potty. That's three distinctly different potty routines plus the addition of a crate - so I think she's a bit confuzzled. How old is she? I think you should decide which potty surface you want her to go on (pee pad, diaper, grass or patch) and then stick with that even if she has accidents (like not wanting the pee pad all of a sudden). She might be picky and wants a new one for every pee. Bella was fine with 4 pees before she wanted a pad change, but now that she's older she refuses to go unless I give her a new pad...which is fine with me, I don't like to pee in a toilet that has waste in it either. Since you started with potty pads I would go back to those and start from scratch (like you just brought her home). Consistency is extremely important and I think trying all these different things is confusing her. |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | I've been very successful with cage training and have put my methods that I use on my web site for others to read and use if they want. You can find the link below in my signature. Also she may benefit from some leash training which you can also find on my site. Feel free to ask question if there is something you find there that you don't understand. Just remember that consistency, tons of praise and a strict schedule are key to being successful with potty training. Plus using firm commands and making sure that she knows her name is a good place to start.

| I think I have confused her. I'll take both of your advice into consideration. Thanks for the advice |

| I did this with Pixie and it worked great! I got an expen and elongated it. put her bed at one end and food in the middle and pee pad where the gate opend. I would take her out to play and about 1/2 hr I would pet her in her pen and tell her to go pee pee if she did I would praise her and open the gate and let her out. I would always leave the gate open when she was playing outside the pen in case she decided to run in and use her pen. Now if she did not pee I would not open the door until she did and I would wait for her to use it and eventually she would I would say yeah good girl you went pee pee and I would let her out. It wasn't long bf she realized what she was supposed to do.

| We adopted our dog from a family that hadn't quite trained her, and told us that she would pee on whatever was in her crate. When we got her, I bleached the crate and bought a new pad. Then, I put her food and water in there affixed to the side of the crate (we are using the traditional wire crate with the pan). Since then, she's always eaten in her crate (now we just leave the door open, we don't have to confine her anymore) and I think that stopped the behavior of doing business in there. Might work for you! Good luck! |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | There is a great book "How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days " you can get it really cheap on Amazon. It has a couple of different schedules to help. Here is the link for the schedule. http://www.leecharleskelley.com/imag...sebreaking.pdf
