| Beware Of Shadow Creek Kennels! I recently purchased a Yorkie puppy from Robin Fisher at Shadow Creek Kennels (she had just purchased the business from Pam and John Martin, who have gotten rave reviews on this forum). Before the puppy was sent, Robin told me that the puppy had a "fungus" on his ear that would be easily treated with a cream for several weeks. I spoke to the vet's office that did the wellness check (unfortunately, not with the dr. that saw him) and was informed that it was nothing contagious and would not be an issue for my family, including my 10 month old son. I took the puppy to my vet as soon as I got him and was informed that this "fungus" was RINGWORM. Ringworm is particularly stubborn in Yorkies and it has been almost four months and he still has it. I take the dog to the vet once a week for treatment and thus far, it has cost me well over $400.00. My son has had it four times - twice on his scalp which has caused hair loss. Robin insisted that she did not know what it was, but another conversation with the vet who actually examined the dog revealed that she knew EXACTLY what it was - and she sent him to my home anyway. I am writing this in hopes of preventing this from happening to anyone else. It is extremely costly and very difficult to get rid of in your home!!! Please BEWARE. | I'm so sorry this happened to you. I hope your pup is rid of it very soon!! So sorry that your son got it 4 times -- I'd be extremely pissed off. Thanks for posting this. It's good to know what breeders to AVOID.

| So glad to have found this community of Yorkie lovers...please warn your friends. I bought a puppy in a pet store about 13 years ago. He died in the vet's office while there for a routine treatment - she inserted a catheter, he yelped and died. But for all of the years I had him, he was a healthy dog. Now, I research breeders to be sure that I am getting the best, spend $1,600and I am faced with the ringworm situation! It's so sad when you put your trust in someone only to find out that they are not trustworthy! But all that said, I love my little Timmy - I'll just be happy when we are on the other side of this ringworm thing! |

I Love Thor Donating Member | COngrats on the new puppy! Sorry you are having such a hard time beating this ring worm. Thanks for putting the word out on this un honest breeder! There are too many people after money alone, and not the welfare of the puppies and buyers. |

| OMG! That is horrible!! Do Pam & John know how this woman is conducting their business they sold to her? I would think they would be upset! I was looking into buying a pup from them & they are extremely nice & I don't think they would like this! What does this other woman say about the pup now? Did you get a contract from her? If you did I would try & get the $$ you have spent on the ringworm from her!

| I would bet that Pam and John don't know. I have heard they are wonderful. She has been avoiding all of my phone calls and continues to deny any knowledge of it. Believe it or not, the vet that signed the wellness check has reimbursed me for me vet bills! He took responsibility b/c he signed the paperwork, but I don't believe it was his responsiblity. He trusted that she would be honest with me and she wasn't. Do you by any chance, have contact info for the Martin's? |

| Did they give you a health guarantee? I would get my money back from them for all the treatments because she knew about the problem and she lied to you.

| I did send Kathryn a private message - thanks! I'll let you all know what happens from her. Isn't it a shame that one person can give other breeders such a bad rap... |

| You're right - it is a fungus and it is contagious. But neither she nor her vet told me that this "fungus" was ringworm...not every fungus is contagious. I can't imagine what kind of person would have sent a puppy with ringworm to a home with a baby! |
