| My bella yorkie has a preferance for men than women! I have this question! I bough my yorkie when she was 10 months old.. and since I got her, she always prefered my husband!!!! She always goes to his lap and rather be near him. But im the one who feeds her! baths her, plays with her, trains her EVERYTHING!!! mY HUsband doesnt even like dogs that much. Now that bella has been with us,.. he likes her better but he is not a dog person!. Why does she prefers him and men rather than me??? Is it because females prefer men? or because he has a stronger voice?? or what??? |

| Yorkies Preference I got my yorkie when she was 12 weeks old. I held her got up with her of the mornings and we had our morning time alone together. But when my husband walked through the door it is as if I am invisible. I too take care of her, bathe her, feed her, give her kisses, bring her in toys, treats, etc., No matter what I do she preferred him. I thought it may have something to do with the breeder, it was a man so I thought that may have something to do with it. My mom got a yorkie and the same thing, She preferred her husband over her. So I decided I would get a male and see if that would make the difference. Nope, he too when to my husband. Now that they are older 3 years old. My female comes to me at night to sleep next to. This is when her daddy isn't looking. But my male or I should say his male stays right with him. I think it has to do with bonding. They just bond with some better than others. When I am in the kitchen cooking I can't hold them and cook but he holds them and lets them watch. He is able to give them a different type of attention than I can because he isn't doing as much when we came in from work as I was. I had crates to clean, puppy pads to pick up, dinner, laundry, etc. I think it has more to do with that than anything. They are able to just sit and be while I have to keep getting up to do things. |

| I always say that it doesn't matter who is dog is "supposed" to belong to -- the dog decides who their human is. My first two Yorkies bonded with me immediately, and were not at all interested in my husband. He kept trying, and after about a year, they decided that he was great, too, although they did still prefer me slightly. Jezebel likes us both, but then she is the kind of Yorkie that is very friendly and loves all humans and all dogs.

Senior Yorkie Talker | I don't believe it has anything with male or female. I think it has something to do with them sensing that someone in the house is not as keen on the whole puppy/dog thing as the others. That is when they plan their sneak attack. They do everything in their power to break that person by making them feel as they are the preferred human. When they sit in that person's lap, they have such a look of accomplishment on their little faces. LOL YorkieProud YORKIES LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY DESPITE ALL OUR FAULTS! |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Well my pet belief is that if dogs had a female breeder of the right type, ie gave lots of love, attention, bonding to, then the dog be it male or female would naturally gravitate towards the female and vice a versa . We have three dogs from female breeders, and well they all have bonded more with me than hubby. Even when we tried to get him to feed them more than I, and he walks them just as much, etc etc. IDK maybe it's just the luck of the draw when there are two or more parties involved in the ownership of animals.
