I always say that it doesn't matter who is dog is "supposed" to belong to -- the dog decides who their human is.

My first two Yorkies bonded with me immediately, and were not at all interested in my husband. He kept trying, and after about a year, they decided that he was great, too, although they did still prefer me slightly. Jezebel likes us both, but then she is the kind of Yorkie that is very friendly and loves all humans and all dogs.
