How do you make clothes?

Im looking at the 10lb poodle and chi...hmmm Im thinkin at least a 3-6 mnths maybe even 6-9mnths. Measure dog from base of neck to base of tail then measure the baby dress that you like or make sure that the onesie that you want to alter is long enough. I have found that if you are using a baby dress it is easier to take up in width than length. I start by taking up what would be the actual back of the baby dress in the center. You can also make smaller seams between the sleeve and center seam if the dress is dragging the ground.

So I I've been spending a whole lot of time at home. I was laid off, I'm 7 months pregnant, have a 2 yr old and some jerk stole my stroller so I can't go on my usual long walks. I hate driving so that keeps me homebound. Luckily there's a Joann fabric 3 min away so I've been putting my dusty sewing machine to use. I found a few free Patterns online and tweaked them a little. Ive made a dew dresses for roxy. I still have some tweaking to go. No one oxygen is perfect but ive never done this before so they are ok for a beginner. The grey and pink one ended ip being too long around the neck so I had to take in in a bit. It's a lightweight corduroy. The zebra dress is fleece and lined with hot pink fleece. The d ring is too low so I feel like I'm dragging her butt around on the leash. That one needs to go back to the drawing board. But overall I'm pleased with how they turned out. Any advice on how I can improve?

Wow! your busy! I really like the dresses. NO way I could make something like that. Just like you said, raise the D- ring and I think your good. They look amazing!

I think you did a very nice job! To move the Dring up you might run a piece of ribbon down the middle of the back,decide where you want the Dring and sew really close to each side of it,incasing it in the ribbon (use a zipper foot for your machine). Ive seen this done and the add a bow where the bodice and skirt come together. I dont put Drings on Mina's dresses because she pulls way to hard,Im afraid that the velcro will come undone. I do like the look and convience of a Dring on the dress.
Cannt wait to see your next project.
Oh and as for the person that stole your stroller,it will come back around to them.

Thanks for the advice. I removed the dring and left it as just a dress. I used the xtra fabric to make a coat style with dring. I was also concerned with the Velcro coming undone. I sewed in almost 5 inches long by 2 in inches wide of Velcro on the chest and 2 inches on he neck just in case. I tested it in the house and so far it doesnt come undone. Roxy is about 4.5 lbs so hopefully she wont break free. I still worry of course.

I love the fabric and your technique is getting better with each project. I am working on a pale flannel/lined dress for Mina. Im guessing that she weighs about 6lbs,she is a sturdy girl,not chubby,just really sturdy.
Ive been sewing sense I was 11yrs old,Im WAY older than that now.
I have taken knitting back up and am having a little success with it. Mina will have a Mommie made sweater by the end of the week.
I used to smock dresses for my daughters and really want to try this as well for Mina. But I have to work at it around life.
For a fancy dress try gathering tulle under the skirt of a dress. You can even use different colors of tulle,let it peak out at the hem.

I can't find anything aside from 2 Tees, that will fit Bella, so I just buy really soft, fluffy socks with neat patterns and cut holes in them for her legs.
