I can only surmise I have made some very valid points or there would be no backlash, but that is just my opinion.

You are absolutely correct. People on pet forums appreciate the knowledge that show exhibitors and show breeders share. However, it's all in presentation. The only thing that comes to mind is...pick your words carefully. No one wants to offend anyone else.

Lorraine, you have never said anything personally offensive to me. However, I've seen posts made, the one that I quoted earlier where it would/could/is offensive to other people.

I think what was meant by 'pet forum' is that this site is for every type of Yorkie lover--all view points are going to be the same and there is bound to be disagreement, but don't condemn the majority of the board because they don't show.

Exactly. How many members of this board actually do show? Maybe 5-8 people. The rest of the what 17,000+ members are pet owners. Sure, pet owners want to learn how to get a great coat on their pets. Pet owners want to learn what foods are more beneficial to their pets and may even ask show breeders what they feed their dogs. There are pet owners that strive to learn everything that they can about the yorkshire terrier breed. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to embark on a new showing adventure. JMO

I don't know. Perhaps only show people should post in the show section, people with babies should on the nursery etc.

While we are at it, we might as well create a section for larger yorkies only, tiny ones, mixed ones, light and dark ones...etc.

"Everyone should be entitled to their opinion"..........gets thrown around alot. Let's put the hormones,feelings and infantile attitudes aside and start practicing what we preach.

Part of the reason why this place exists is to learn about the breed not just post cute pictures of our beloved pets (which I enjoy myself). Another reason is to make friendships.......

Come to think about it.........it would be wonderful to have an "Everything you always wanted to know about Showing" (as suggested by Delores)area Possibly and just maybe hopefully everyone could voice their experiences/opinions without fear of being slit in the throat.

My point is just that its wrong and not neccessarily correct to assume that because one breeds and does not show, that they are ignorant to the breed, their lines, health issues, or ethics. Nor are they incapable of "understanding the purebred dog world" as it was so ridiculously stated.

And yes, I do believe that everyone IS entitled to their own opinion...I also believe that if you have the guts to throw yours out there, you shouldn't be shocked or apalled if someone who took offense to it told you exactly what they thought about it.

As I will repeat yet again, do as you chose and I will do likewise and also provide my opinions and knowledge. If anyone doesn't agree or want to know that is up to them, no one said you have to nor does anyone have to read anything posted they dont' want to.

I have condemned no one, as I've said before I may not agree with what others do, my purpose is to offer advice and help.

However, I've seen in more than one thread the opposite is true, the show/breeder's were more often condemned. And do not appreciate when a reputable exhibitor is attacked.

This thread was started by someone asking a question on a show dog, what in my opinion would be more readily answered by those that are knowledgable on that subject.

Well said!!!!! Just because someone doesn't show dogs, doesn't mean that they don't care about the dogs that they are breeding. It doesn't mean that they are careful in their breeding practices, test their dogs and place them in good homes. We ALL care for our babies. After all, isn't that the main reason why we are here?

Actually it isn't ridiculous. Before I know better I was burned twice by people who bred didn't show had scads of health issues and took no responsibility for anything at all and 15 years later one of them is still doing it.
If the purebred dog world was understood, you would be in it but that is just my opinion, you can do as you please, I really don't care.
It doesn't really matter does it what I say, if you think you are doing the right thing what I happen to post or say should make no difference to you?

And yes, I do believe that everyone IS entitled to their own opinion...I also believe that if you have the guts to throw yours out there, you shouldn't be shocked or apalled if someone who took offense to it told you exactly what they thought about it.

Gosh I am not shocked or appalled. I find this a wonderful opportunity to share what i have learned over the years. I am delighted absolutely and no way offended or upset. It is interesting to read how some think, gives me no end of education.
And yes this thread was started wtih someone asking about a show dog. That's why I posted in the first place, to offer my opinion.

Do you think that people who are not active in the show world--meaning in the ring and competing--should refrain from breeding? Do you think that breeding is something that should only be done by people who show?

Lorraine Has Helped Me Over The Last Few Days With A Problem I Was Loosing Sleep Over I Owe Her A Great Deal Because She Helped Me Solve It She Was Not Judgemental At All She Gave Me Another Way Of Thinking And Doing Things And I Will Always Be Grateful To Her With Out Her Knowledge I May Have Never Discovered What I Needed To Know I Also Am Going To Try And Show My Chaz And Kiki In The Next Few Weeks And I Am Sure I Will Lean On Her And Others In That Time For Advice I Do Believe That We All Have Are Own Right To Do As We Want As Long As There Is Improvments To What We Are Trying To Accomplish And Other S Have Different Views As We Are All Intitled To . That is your opinon, not that obviously shared by all from the posts and private posts and many requests I have received privately for help just in the last couple of days not even talking aobut the last few months.
