| I believe you are mistaken, as well as the AKC breeder who stated it originally. There is no minimum standard weight, just the maximum of 7 lbs. Quote:

| Justus, what I meant is that it is always better to buy a puppy from a show/responsible breeder that actually it is breeding for quality. Breeding to compete. Investing time and money to produce healthy and quality (sound) animals. I have been told that in a litter sometime you have the bigger puppies and the smallers. I did not say that ONLY show dogs can produce tiny. Never said so. I only wanted to point that I would trust a show breeder more than one that does not go in competition. Besides, if someone likes smaller better than bigger then, in my opinion, this person should buy from someone that has a reputation to maintain. Just my thought. Quote:

| Are you sure it says : 4 to 7 LB. (???) I just read the standard and it says: "Weight: not over 7 LB". meaning that it did not say anything about the smaller size at all. Quote:

| I love the smaller yorkies also. When I first started researching, I was going to breed tinies. Well, that notion didn't last long.LOL I love them andthink they are beautiful but I am not breeding tinies for tinies. I have a litter that both parents are four-four and a half. When I bred my bitch she weighed five pounds. since she whelped she has gone to four and a half pounds. And that is with milk. She had five babies. Three are super small and will probably be in the three and a half or four pounds. They are seven weeks old and weigh in the range of 1lb 1oz and 1lb, 3oz. The other two probably will be five or five and a half pounds. So much difference in one litter. This bitch and her sister both are known to throw small puppies. My tiny babies are doing great. |
