| If it is not financial, I would invest in training clases for him. When Bailey was a puppy she would dart out the door just to do hot laps in the grass. When we wanted her to come in she thought we were playing and would run off. Our trainer told us to run the oposite way and she would follow;she did I signed her up for classes and now she won't even follow me into the garage unless I tell her it is ok. We live in a area where we can't have a fence so I bought her a long runner and put that on her when we are all outside doing yardwork, we don't even have to attach the end to anything, she doesn't go out of the yard. It is not too late to pad train your boy either, yorkies are stubborn but very smart.Good Luck! Michele & Bailey |

| Awww...what a difficult time you must have had with this decision. Knowing how I feel about my one year old Topher, this must have been so hard for you. I know everyone here hates to see you have to do something like this...something that would make you so very sad so that's why we're all throwing suggestions your way....we just want to keep you two together, if possible ![]() I do hope you try the training technique. We've had Topher in obedience classes here for quite a few months now and the change we've seen in him is phenomenal. Luckily I'm in a small city so the kennel club's classes are very inexpensive, otherwise we wouldn't be able to do it. He's come a long way! I'd suggest even a makeshift baby gate in front of the door until you are able to train or until he catches on. I do hope that you're able to try some of the suggestions, if possible. If it turns out that you have to sell him, we do understand. You're such a good mom putting is safety first. I hope it all works out for you. |

| Thank you for all of your suggestions I am going to try them one by one and hopefully that works. And to comment on a couple of statements made about me selling because of financial reasons, yes I know some might think that with it being close to christmas but we are doing pretty good. I would not sell my baby for money that is just going to be spent on materialistic things, I put a high price on him to be honest because I was hoping that no one would buy him, and I could keep him. I love him and I am willing to try anything to make him stop. Again thank you so much to the suggestions, and I will keep you informed one wich one(s) worked!

| Bless you. I'm sure you are frustrated with the fear of having him hit by a car. Take a deep breath and get a new sense of hope with all the great ideas here. There has to be one that will make things easier. Sometimes when you feel like your at your wits end with something that hasnt been working out, you just need some buddies that will give you some fresh ideas and fresh hope...so go with it and good luck!!!!

I think those that brought up financial reasons, were referring to maybe a financial reason for not putting up a fence. I hope all works out well for you, so you don't have to worry about him getting hit by a car or running off. | |
