If it is not financial, I would invest in training clases for him. When Bailey was a puppy she would dart out the door just to do hot laps in the grass.When we wanted her to come in she thought we were playing and would run off.
Our trainer told us to run the oposite way and she would follow;she did I signed her up for classes and now she won't even follow me into the garage unless I tell her it is ok. We live in a area where we can't have a fence so I bought her a long runner and put that on her when we are all outside doing yardwork, we don't even have to attach the end to anything, she doesn't go out of the yard. It is not too late to pad train your boy either, yorkies are stubborn but very smart.
