Christmas time is the worst time to adopt a new puppy into ahome. There are too many risks to the puppy for them to get hurt, swallow something they shouldn't and get ill or die, get frightened by all the events around Christmas and there is an increased risk it can't get the care it should in those first weeks in a new home. Please hang onto them until after January 1st. They can give you a deposit, put a picture of the puppy under the tree, and let the puppy go to its new home where it will be the center of attention not to be lost in the shuffle of Christmas.

Great post and kindly put too. It's just way to dangerous for the puppies. BUT...still hoping you find loving forever homes for them. I bet they are adorable!

Please hold your puppies until at least 12 weeks. That would be later in January, Christmas excitement is over, and they stand a much better change of survival. I don't know any breeder that can ever guarantee that the puppies will look like the parents and actually they seldom do. There is a whole whack of genes behind them in grandparents and on back to contribute genes to be expressed in these puppies.

| Please read the information on these links. http://www.petrescue.com/library/no-pups.htm http://www.cyberpet.com/dogs/articles/lexi/cmgifts.htm http://www.slate.com/id/2132035/ Here are just a few articles on Christmas puppies. Lorraine is so right when she says it is such a bad time of year. Not to mention the puppies will be very young at Christmas still. They will only be 6 weeks old!! If you waited until the middle of January it would be so much better for your babies. |

| Puppies are a joy! Christmas is a Joy! Lorraine -- (Janet and Diva Pup might be interested in this, too) Wow, what a burden you must carry... You seem to think you know so much about other people without ever having met them...and you have the answers for other people when they don't even ask you a question. Your house must be immaculate, your family relationships must all be loving and kind, and your world must be so perfectly organized that it doesn't require your attention or care. Surely you've heard the saying: "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"... think this might apply to you? First, you assume I am too stupid to know about the risks involved in sending puppies home on Christmas -- what, do you think I don't talk to the people who are purchasing our puppies (I have never spent less than an hour with a prospective buyer, by the way) to find out about their home, why they want a puppy, finding out what they know about puppies and helping them to understand the needs of their new puppy they are taking home? Do you really believe that people pay $800 -$1000 for a puppy and then abandon them at the SPCA?! Not the people I sell the puppies to! These folks know the value of a dollar, and value their new puppies highly. Every puppy I have sold has been to a home that has been looking for and waiting for and wanting a yorkie for weeks, if not months. These people would no more dump their puppy at a shelter than forget to breathe. Everything you note as risks at Christmas time for puppies are risks that I discuss with buyers at all times of the year -- don't you?!? Puppies must be protected and cared for, there is never a safe time to let a puppy chew on certain objects or be ignored if it needs medical attention. How sad for you that your first assumption when you read about someone who is expressing joy about puppies and joy about Christmas and happiness about a healthy birth -- is such thoughts of evil, death, destruction and loss. I feel very sorry for you. Susan |

| You are sadly mistaken.. The articles you sent me all assume puppies are being brought into families with children on Christmas Day. The majority of the people who have purchased puppies from me do not have children, they are purchasing a Yorkie to be a pet, companion, best friend. These people should not be denied the joy of having this wonderfull blessing brought into their home on Christmas day just because there are some stupid families who try to pack too much into Christmas, spoil their children, and hurt their pets. Shame on you for assuming the worst about others without even asking! Susan |
