Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() I fully understand not being able to have certain pets due to allergies. My youngest turned out to be terribly allergic to a kitten we rescued. We had to adopt her out quickly. I don't remember anyone saying you didn't give enough food or water, but the advice regarding the crating and not taking her outside until she's fully vaccinated came from people who have a lot of experience and knowledge. As for the breeder not taking her back: lesson learned that a good breeder is interested in the well being of his/her pups and will have clauses about rehoming. Can you sell her for what you paid for her? I have no clue, but my gut reaction is that if you are going to hold out for that price, you may be waiting awhile and putting your son through more suffering than he should. Only you can decide whether it's worth it or not. Here are some links to rescues in your area if you decide to go that route: ADOPT A PET,TUCSON,Not so Grande Dachshund & small dog Rescue,Animal shelter,no-kill,Dogs,Dachshunds, Tucson,Dachshund,Dog Boarding,Tucson, small, breed,Rescue,Arizona, Adoptions,Tucson,AZ,Australian Terrier, Beagle, Bichon Frise, Border Terrier, Cairn http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/adoptafriend.html HOPE Animal Shelter Good luck with what ever you decide.

We do know that rescues are set up to do just that. They will move heaven and earth to insure your pup gets the best vet care, and is found a forever loving home. All you need do is contact one, and surrender your pup to them. I and others ask you to do what is best for securing a loving and healthy environment for this life you took the responsibility for when you purchased her.

If you're really sure you can't take the time to care for this pup then I agree that perhaps you should just try to find her a really good home. Please be realistic about how much you're asking for her - you were willing to pay that but not everyone will be... especially if they've done any research about dogs. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses and chalk it up to experience. This is really sad and just breaks my heart. I hope you find her a GOOD home soon and make that your first concern.

| ![]() a) have access and get the best vet care; she should be examined, stool sample, heart, etc (see you haven't responded if you brought her to a vet in the short time you have owned her ... which needs to be done within 48-72 hours of receipt of a pup. and b) find a good forever home. Yes we did take her to the vet she got a shot also and didn't even cry ![]() |

| ![]() Gosh, what a heartbreaking thing to have to go through! my son also has allergies. Has your son been tested specifically for what he is allergic to? Their are allergy shots nowadays... 900.00 is a lot of money to pay for this type of pup. Perhaps taking best offer? And looking for the best home would be in the best interest of your little puppy. She sounds adorable. I just wish their wasa way that you and your family could keep her.

| ![]() Hello Mommy, Don't worry about some comments from some who call your dog a mutt. Mutt, Morkie, Yorkie, all the same as far as love goes I have a Shorkie, many members here know that but Jemma has never been called a mutt. Truthfully I'd bite the person back, lol WHATEVER the reason is, the fact is, the puppy needs to be re-homed. I imagine you paid the price for what are called, designer pups. No I don't consider my girl a designer pup nor was that name even known to me. I love Shih Tze and love Yorkies, hence when I saw one instantly fell in love. I really didn't know the breed until I asked what mix it was and was told. However I only paid 400.00 and received a health guarantee not that I would expect one at 400.00. At 900, oh yes I would. But today people are paying way too high for this dogs, unforunately you are one of them. You probably just didn't know. But the people here are not involved with mixed breeds but some truly care about all puppies/dogs. When this old Shorkie owner asks for opinions or help, people jump out to help. I think the problem is this. Please do not take anything to offense because it is not my intention. Many people give up dogs using the word allergy. That is the #1 reason my county dog shelter receives when a dog is turned in. So when someone comes here stating that, it has been heard before and the red flags go up. Sometimes a bit too quick. So it is understandable for many to be cautious when hearing it. Many here work for shelters or help in rescue. I can only think of a few options which answers I know you won't like. No one here is going to buy her. I think you will find you are also not getting 900 for her. You will definitely have to accept that. You can bring your son to the allergist to see if anything can be done so your son can remain healthy and the puppy happy she can stay with her family. Contact the breeder and tell her since she won't take the puppy back, as a reputable breeder she could at least point people your way for a puppy. I would call her reputable only to put something positive in her head, of course she isn't but at this point you can't care about that. Or you can take the loss, as hard as it may be and give her to the wonderful rescue groups out there. You can be sure that a rescue group will do everything to make sure, first she is healthy and provide any medical care she might need and 2, screen people who may be interested. I won't get into how strict the rescues can be when placing a rescue. But they need to be that way for damn good reasons. Finding a good home where they don't have to worry about little fur babies being re-homed over and over again. Hats off to the many involved in rescue and shelter. I find it extremely difficult and tried to volunteer at our local shelter and could not do it. I was heart sick and anxiety ridden. I don't know how they do it but point is they do. I say this because if you do give her to rescue I want you to know the kind of people they are. It takes a lot of guts and love and that is what your little baby would be getting. I wish you well and hope that your little fur baby finds herself in a good home very, very soon as the longer she stays the more attached she will become to you. She is really already. The day you took her, she adopted YOU as her new Mommy Can you post a picture of her? In case anyone knows of someone looking for a Morkie. They are really adorable little dogs. I have seen a couple.

| ![]() Don't get me wrong here, I have 2 rescued mutts and 3 rescued purebreds and I love them all the same. Theres nothing wrong with a mutt, however there is something wrong with people breeding them and charging outrageous prices for them. Especially since the shelters are full of them ![]() |

Hey there, I havent been around much but I'm gonna try and be here more often. The word mutt is taken differently in so many ways. But for the most part it makes mixed breeds sound mundane, just so ordinary when to their owners they mean the world. My little Shorkie for example is not ordinary. She is outstanding, spectacular yet to most? Just a mixed breed. I more than welcome the question, "is that a mixed breed?" rather than, "is that a mutt?" I LOVE Yorkies, but I love my little Shorkie, Jemma. See she has a name? I don't even call her a mixed breed. I just say, here's Jemma. Have a great day!!!! ![]()

![]() I love both my little mixes.........I didn't purchase them as designer breeds they are both rescues. The word mutt kind of cuts to the bone when you love your little ones with all your heart. ![]() To the OPer~please could you give us an update. We really do care about what is going on with you, Junie and your son. ![]()
